Seriously.Might be even 2029.
SameXSX will cost more than what I paid for a PS5 Pro at launch..

that's NUTS
Well Microsoft spends the third most on AI... they're the first to really monetize it.Still she or any other CEO for others consoles makers can't do nothing…
The hobby at this moment is in critical condition.Corps are going to follow the money… Our hobby is really is danger this time.
Only if your hobby is buying hardwareThe hobby at this moment is in critical condition.
Western AAA bullshit and "high end" hardware are in critical condition. The rest, not so much. You will always be able to make hardware for a mass market compatible price. Just won't be particularly powerful. The hobby at this moment is in critical condition.
They're already third party. Cutting a revenue stream for hw and subscriptions and mtx is your idea to turn it around?Xbox is cooked
Its a shit console at its current price and in last place. But raise prices?
Might aswell fold and go third party for multitude of reasons
Oh, you are totally right on that one. It's like saying the best version of GTA6 on consoles is the Series X, and conveniently ignoring that a PS5pro exists. So yh, totally agree with you on that.Totally agree with you
My point was the whole the Series S is the same price as a digital PS5 is something a mouth breather like Jez would say because it sounds very stupid to just ignore the cheaper variant because it doesn't fit one's agenda
They can't... but that's not the point of why they have them now. Which kinda just adds to how all over the place their strategy is. They are simultaneously doing two things that completely contradict each other at the same time.Again, how can they justify exclusives?
Yes, it's a fair comparison to make, but only in a case where the only option is a 1TB console. It's not though... It just comes off as disingenuous here, being that whoever is in the market for a series s, is likely only thinking about getting into consoles at the absolute cheapest they can get into. For what it's worth, though... and this kinda makes this whole argument moot; the series s also isnt in the top 100 sellers for the Xbox platform on Amazon.I think Jez would rather have the Series S be shown in a better light but it seems completely fair and in good faith to compare the 1TB Series S price to the PS5DE price that also comes with 1TB. It's a pretty like for like comparison. Except you're getting much worse hardware/performance on a Series S.
Doesn't that just make a case for why the games should be multiplatform to begin with?Easy, they know that they will sell the same amount of consoles at this extortionate price. They know that consoles are going to become hard to find near GTA6 release and people will be scrambling to pick up any old thing even at scalper-like prices like this. The sales of the xbox studio game doesn't get affected by this hike at all.
The way people will spin Xbox bad news to seem positive must be studied at Harvard or somethingWhich is smart of them. Wanna play GTA day one and be able to afford a console to play it? Well, then buy a console now, before it goes up in price...
$500 for a series S is fucking hysterical. lol I'm glad I got a PS5 Pro, series X, and Switch 2 already.
I think it's more a case of just showing how much more overpriced the Series S is when comparing them as closely as possible you see the lower spec Series S being the same price. I don't think it's a suggestion that those on a very tight budget won't go for the cheapest option ever.Yes, it's a fair comparison to make, but only in a case where the only option is a 1TB console. It is the sane thing to do but I think the suggestion was that this makes their console sell less thus making the decision to go exclusive even more baffling. I was just clarifying that this hike will not make much of a difference because they expect shortages come November.Doesn't that just make a case for why the games should be multiplatform to begin with?
If you have established that your business model is unsustainable, and you have also established that the one thing you need to do to make it sustainable is to generate more money from software and services sales, and you have also established that you can't sell more consoles cause no one is buying them, and that is made even harder cause now the consoles are becoming prohibitively expensive; so there goes the easiest path to boost your sales of software and services.
That means the only way you can accomplish this is to sell on as many platforms as possible. It's the "sane" thing to do.
The way people will spin Xbox bad news to seem positive must be studied at Harvard or something
I'm not even sure younger people are bothered about power so the writing's on the wall anyway for traditional consolesWestern AAA bullshit and "high end" hardware are in critical condition. The rest, not so much. You will always be able to make hardware for a mass market compatible price. Just won't be particularly powerful.
That wouldn't make a lick of difference. It's just one of those things that sounds great on forums and amongst warring fans but makes no difference in real life.I feel like this could have been their time to do a small price drop. Its like they can afford it and imagine them saying xbox is the best place to play and while everyone is raising prices we are dropping ours $50. That would certainly gain little traction in their favor.
I'd rather sell nothing than sell at a loss.

I had to read that three times, but it finally clicked

Yeah I never did say it very eloquently![]()
The problem with that is they are already losing money on each console they sell and it appears software and service sales are not making up for it. The best they could hope for by doing that is people would buy it as a PC-light and purchase software from the Windows Store. It would expand to productivity software so maybe there is opportunity there. I would be all over this if they did it but I do not think it would help XBOX in the long run.Why don't they just make the current gen allow helix installations.
Yeah the good old days when 899.99 can buy you every console and a house.SMH, Gamecube use to cost $99.99 BRAND NEW. Now look where we are.

In terms of talking about ignoring a cheaper variant, I've seen worse. Like the $599 PS3 memes when there was always a $499 PS3 at launch that matched the 20GB of the 360 variant. It's not really a big deal. It's just trying to match a like for like comparison.

The church of Xbox never recovered since the business update.
It's not that simple, maybe if you're into indie games that can be ran on a potato. Otherwise sooner or later you're going to have to upgrade if you want to keep playing new stuff, either because your PC drops below minimum requirements (and all UE5 games require a decent rig) or your PC/console breaks down. And currently it's a big purchase even if opt for the console route.Only if your hobby is buying hardware
Buying/playing games will survive for sure
2late bro, he is simping hard like there is no tomorrow, and in this particular case, i dont even blame him, AI Asha made sure that xbox is irrelevant not even next gen, but 1,5years before nextgen started, even in their strongest bastion aka USAlrightAss of Can Whooping you need to control your girlfriend, establish some patriarchy, and put her back in the kitchen. Wtf is this madness???

Ay yo....salute to Parris for keeping it real right there. I love to see the in-fighting. But more importantly, I'm glad to see Parris starting to get honest.

People buying less hardware means less will buy new games. Maybe the market as a whole will adapt, but personally I would consider getting way less big-budget games as a big loss (even though I play all kinds of games, not only triple A's).
I agree with him here, but Parris flipflopped so hard on the whole exclusivity debate. He was hardcore against console exclusives until he got all buttered up by Asha (and Matt) and did a massive 180. Lost an enormous amount of credibility.
Lol... I thought about that, which is why at some point I mentioned that if we go down that rabbit hole then what the person is really gonna end up doing is buying used. And since you are on this, then you can get a certified used Series S for under $350.Yeah, this is all I was doing. Considering the NAND prices, how much space your console comes with matters more now than ever. It's why the cheapest Steam Machine comes with 512 GBs of space. Ignoring that would be weird to me. It much be pointed out, considering the times we live in.
Okay, if we are REALLY being honest and fair, the gamer that's looking into getting a new console to play GTA6 but wants to spend the least amount possible would be a legit total IDIOT to buy the Series S for $500 when they can get an Xbox Series X refurbished for $500 or a PS5 refurbished for $500. These are Certified Refrubed consoles directly from Microsoft and Sony. And they have 1 TB of SSD space.

However, this thread is discussing new prices, I am almost certain those certified used prices go up when the official prices go up.
Oh make no mistake.... I know for a fact that a certified used PS5 digital cost $350 last year. And I know this cause I bought one as a gift for someone. Now it costs $499.This would be devastating! Like a shot to the face.
this guy unnerves me
