• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Are you waiting for the nextgen?

Nope.

I will decided if I will get a next gen console 1 or 2 years after the gen has started.

I have too much to play and I think that most games will be cross gen anyway.

Sony and Microsoft don't make video games anymore. I'm waiting for them to be made by anyone again then I will start purchasing new games.

No. I'm pretty content with where we are and honestly I feel like we are still getting more out of the current generation of consoles. Whether or not I would day want a new system is an open question that we have to cross the bridge when we come to it.

Ima be real. WIth the way things are going, I'm gonna be PC+Nintendo for the foreseeable future. I'll run my PS5 until the wheels fall off, but current prices are not worth the occassional Sony game for a PS6.
Basically me. I got a Switch 2, I have my PC, and I still have PS5. I don't plan on partaking in any new hardware for a long... long time.

Talking about the next generation of consoles makes no sense; besides, if they were to launch one, it would cost $1,000, not a lower price.

If the fools at PlayStation decide to launch another console in late 2027, the only result will be the collapse of the industry and public rejection. Furthermore, sustaining a market for AAA game production would become untenable, especially in light of recent data showing a decline in console sales.

Rumors are circulating that the components for the PS6 alone cost $999, not even counting marketing and manufacturing expenses.

The Steam Machines market differs from PlayStation's; Valve targets a niche audience with its console and isn't looking to revolutionize the mass market or manufacture millions of units. PlayStation, on the other hand, has a much broader audience. Both PlayStation and Xbox rely on massive console sales, but no one would want—or be able—to buy a $1,000 console; certainly, at least 73% of users wouldn't do it.

And if they stubbornly go ahead and launch it anyway, they won't be able to sustain the development of high-cost video games. This leads to two possibilities: 1) they won't bet on AAA games—which I highly doubt and won't happen, because the idiots at PlayStation don't know how to do anything else—or 2) the generation will be prolonged, lasting six years or more.

The PS5 generation is barely getting started; it took five years just to reach this point.

I told you all back during the PS4 era that it still had a lot to offer and that the ideal move would be to launch the PS5 in 2022—and they laughed... and look... look what they're doing.

PlayStation did the stupid thing of launching it right in the middle of the pandemic, like total morons.

They're going to repeat the same history, only worse.

Until I see true progression idgaf !!!! Actually for the most part I haven't really cared for AI but the past couple weeks I've been seeing some really cool things on IG that's been making me be like " Holy shit .. ok Wow!!!" to where I can see things are eventually headed . As for it's use gaming I don't see it really being implemented for at least 10 years or close to Ps7 release . If ps6 is just catching up to current pc standards then I'll pass .

Still waiting for true virtual living worlds or some SAO type shit :messenger_tears_of_joy:

This they will be in even more rough shape launching the ps6 next year then in covid. Especially with scalpers probably going to buy a good chunk of them and will price it even higher. It won't bode well for software sales attributed to the PS6.

I'm perfectly fine with my Pro, but I'm a monster and I want a PS6.

I've been buying consoles since the early 90's. Not about to stop now.
But I'm definitely less excited each generation as the diminishing returns get more extreme.

This is currently the only generation where I don't own all 3 major players.
Skipped Xbox this time, cuz why would I need one and a PC and a PS5. Hopefully they give me a reason to next gen.
