Sonic Racing: Crossworlds | Review Thread

I tested the demo on my Switch 2 and the game is absolutely fantastic,
The real game is far better with much better tracks (the choice was meh in the demo) and much more gadgets. (the tactical depth of gadgets is huge and addicting)

Fun fact, the same Nintendo life gave MKW a 9/10, Sonic a 7/10 with 3 different journalists reviewing.

In the end, a Nintendo fansite (Nintendo Life) boosted MKW's metascore and dragged down Sonic... Of course, they kept this scenario, with journalists giving an advantage to MKW.
How surprising 😘

Yeah I had way more fun with CrossWorlds than I did with World

What is going on here? You went from the failed Stadia to working for Sega/Atlus now?
I've always been a Sega Agent, pawl.

Stadia was just a way to play Sega games without clunky expensive paywalls like Playstation or Switch.😎

Kenji Arai (Sonic Racing Crossworlds) was involved in the first Sega Rally (designing courses, assisting the producer and more. Not programming though, automaton did a mistake... he was programmer in Sega Rally 2)

Sonic CD and Sonic Mania Plus both have a 91 rating, so while CrossWorlds was very well received it's by no means the best rated game in the series.
True but i guess he meant the Sonic Racing serie...

As for Sonic CD, it's more a 80 metascore on PS3 with less than 20 reviews... (for the Sega CD version, well... it's the usual overrated score of the 90's.)

This is $20 right now on Amazon. I was planning to get it around this price on Steam, but I guess this is good enough.

Yeah, this is the right time if we want more seasons. (Sega was almost as arrogant as Nintendo with the $70 price tag)
The game director is still doing survey to polish the game (item balance, new gadgets to counter annoying items, new modes, tracks, circuits...)

$30 on Series X
$35 on PS5

At this point, the game should normally cost 40 and be on sale for around 20 dollars. But right now it's 70 on Steam.... That's another effective way to kill your games.

No, 20 dollars would be too much and a sign of despair after less than 1 year...

  1. 18/06/2026 : -50 %
  2. 12/02/ 2026 : -40 %.
  3. 22/12/2025 : -30 %.
  4. 26/11/2025 : -20 %.
The last 50% discount was last month.
I think it's fair and the usual Sega discounts.

Didn't the game flop? Sticking to such a high price can only do harm.

No, it didn't meet Sega's expectations.
(On the other hand, they said in a financial report that Sonic Rumble flopped...)

Sonic Rumble: Flop.
Sonic Crossworlds: Didn't meet expectations but sold enough to greenlight season 2 and they said this month they'll probably add content for a long time...(And they talked about a possible season 3 if the game keeps selling)
