So I have a gaming setup in my room, but many times I use Moonlight to stream my games on my tablet while my wife watches TV. The streaming actually works very well, but sometimes the bitrate dips.

Soon, we'll be buying a new house and Ill set up boxes for Ethernet in certain areas. So, I'm considering setting one up by my living room couch.

Now, I've heard of converter cables that can be used for Ethernet-to-tablet uses. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this or reliable cables to use, if so.

Why not plug in a dedicated wifi hub on the network area you'll be playing in. It would be much simpler than tethering a tablet with a cable, you can set that hub so that the tablet is the only device connected to it.

If you're trying to charge your device from Ethernet, the thing you're connected to will have to support PoE. Most devices will only charge at 10W (PoE max is 15.4W), which is pretty slow.

I haven't used this one (or ones like it) personally, but they do apparently exist.

Would definitely work, but you're still gonna have two cables tethering you - the Ethernet cable, and the power cable for this device. But since most tablets only have the one USB-C connector, this should do what you want it to.

Thanks for the tip. My tablet keeps a long charge and Moonlight doesn't make it drain fast. So I may try both options and see which I like more.

I've used a usb c hub with an Ethernet port for an iPad before. It worked fine.

No, they rely on the standards being supported by the tablet so it's all plug and play. You can check if you particular tablet supports all the features, like displayport mode is needed i think for the HDMI on that hub to work.

It's a tab S10 FE plus. I'm pretty sure that's newer but I'll have to do some research

An AP in your living room makes more sense than trying to juggle a bunch of wires to stream from your couch. A wired AP will perform near Ethernet without any cable mess. Ethernet should work without any issues if you do want to go through with it.

What's AP? After seeing the prices to have cables run I may need another option. I may try myself in the future though.

A wifi access point. Get a modular system and have one node in your living room. You'll still want the cables run for the AP itself.

You can get all sorts now. There are mesh systems to extend WiFi easily if you have new enough hardware. You can also get a powerline ethernet set that has a built in WiFi transmitter of its own and set it to the mode where it creates its own WiFi AP then connect to that.
