Playing it on Gamepass will annoy MS more than not playing it at all?

lol. Go you I guess.

The execs are focused on if the service with negative growth is gobbling sales, not whether they will make more Halo.

The Gamepass discussion is certainly unending charts and graphs and rerunning the data with AI. Seems like a real boondoggle.

Reach is great, 4 isn't half bad.
5 is where things went south.
Reach has the best campaign and i will fight that.

4 had the second best story but it was riddled with annoying promies and was more of a corridor shooter so from a gameplay perspective it was just ok.

5…5's campaign was trash. Like halo tv series level of trash. But the MP was actually pretty damn fun, especially warzone firefight.

agreed with reach, i need to replay reach again soon : ))

Game launched today and has 20,000 concurrent players on Steam.

For perspective FH6 went from 150,000 to 273,000 on launch day.

I think this series might be dead bros.

There's 30million Gamepass subscribers. A few of them may be playing also. Also, add in the consoles and it's not so bleak.

Halo Campaign Evolved seems like a flop

Yea that is low for steam, but I'd have to see the full picture before confirming it dead. Maybe just this go it wasn't as popular on steam? I don't expect it to sell huge, but decently.
The rule of thumb is that if does well on Steam, it does well everywhere. P3R did 45k on Steam, Metaphor had 85k (don't remember if it was in GP), Starfield had 330k.

Gotcha thanks.

Sounds like cope

I mean I'm not going to fall over if it does bad. I like Halo but am not emotionally attached to it. Like I said I didn't think it would sell amazingly, but decently. I guess it's possible it could tank. We'll see.

I'm gonna say it guys: Reach was a slop progenitor. Hear me out.

They traded out the simple superman vs the bad guys, light on lore, big on mystery design doc. Almost from the Dark Souls playbook of storytelling. Sure people pried lore out of Bungie that did not exist because it all got so popular and they signed off on a bunch of books and said "yeah sure that's cannon", but Halo didn't have any detailed lore, and it was better that way. Reach took Master Chief and gave us a bunch of sad guys in their feelings and one of the original gaming girl bosses (watch the cutscenes). Yeah sure war exists it's hard on soldiers, but this is supposed to be fucking HALO sir. They also bent the knee to sprint and other shooter-of-the-month frivolities. ODST was just better at all of that, and it felt more sufficiently like a spin-off. I know Reach wasn't numbered, but the marketing was.

The chronological order of the Bungie Halo games is also the quality ranking.

Or, it's even simpler than that :
It just wasn't as good or as fun as the previous 3 Halos, plus, that reticle bloom fucked up the whole shooting.

Also : That shield lock power up was completely and utter shit in MP.

IMO, Halo died after 3, Reach was the beginning of the end and it made me lose all interest in Halo, incredibly mediocre game...

PS : I even enjoyed 4 way more than Reach (if that's even possible).

Crazy how Halo IP has been run into the ground by the garbage 343 developers. They could hit it out of the park with this remake but instead when with meme DEI and woke garbage.
How difficult it was to remake it without changing anything? That's what people asked.

Playing the Reach beta was probably the most disappointed i've been while gaming. I remember complaining about the bloom on GAF way back in the day and a Bungie dev told me to crouch while shooting. Crouch-shoot.....in Halo. I knew it was over.

The grenade launcher that you could detonate in the air was dope though, and i would like to see that weapon come back.

Is it me or do the cutscenes seem a bit off? In the into Johnston and Cortana looks like he's trying to stop themselves from laughing, and the voice acting seems way too relaxed for someone in their circumstance.

That was great! I played through the whole thing in two sittings, and it was excellent. This game's a classic, and I have no complaints with how they remade it.

Aside from the fact that I wish there were multiplayer. That's still obscenely stupid.

But yeah, an absolute classic, and it looked surprisingly great in UE5.

I mentioned this in the OT

The cutscenes are weird and feel unfinished

This studio not being closed five times over after their repeated fails at making anything good in this series while Id got brutalized will never make any sense to me.

I'd rather play the MC collection.

Halo 3 remastered was... amazing. It shot up to my number one campaign. ODST was also amazing, with semi-horror atmosphere even.

Reach is great too, really. I had a blast playing through its campaign and its skyboxes still look great. But this game started to push Halo sort of in the wrong direction.

Halo 2 might be the best. Its MP was simply a blast. And its SP is underrated (not as good as CE and 3, but still better than many FPS campaigns out there). I picked it up for like 5 bucks in 2006, and it was trapped in my 360 a ton throughout that year. Good times.

I'm personally enjoying it a lot. To me that's all that matters. I don't need it to be a massive hit to enjoy it. That said maybe not including multiplayer was a bad choice. Halo is synonymous with MP. Many players enjoy it specifically for that reason. Maybe it's not at the same exact level as CoD MP, but imaging taking MP out of that game, and players would probably pass on it if it did.

343 is their own dev house that they made to work on Halo. They can just change what happens there if they want it to change, and they have.

That's what they are continually doing and that's why it's bad, it's managed by Microsoft, which is not changing by putting a new name on a new building next door, and doing the exact same thing there. They already reorganized 343 and renamed it. What difference does it make if they "close" it.
