Oh yeah, huh, this never had a PC release. Cool, and glad to see the decomp teams prioritizing games which aren't easily had otherwise.

(I believe Condemned 2 is weirdly not on XBL even though Condemned 1 is, correct?)

Condemned 2 was physical only.
The first game was delisted on Halloween last year.

Next we need the first Darkness game.
Yeah, not to mention it's from that Stencil Shadows era, which was very very special gen for me.

The first time I booted Thief Deadly Shadows, Doom 3 or Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, always blew me away.

F.E.A.R. is up there too for me although it used Hybrid Stencil Shadows + Shadow Maps approach, similarly to Condemned 1/2.

When I bought my very first XBOX 360, Condemned was one of three games I picked up with the system. It truly made me feel uneasy playing the game, especially when I arrived at that fucked up mall! I couldn't get into the second game for some reason, and I never finished it. Man, this talk lately about that era has really been nostalgic, and I am glad there are people putting in the effort to keep it alive.

I still never played condemned 1. I've had it on Steam forever but it's broken. I tried every wiki fix out there but it breaks after the first cutscene.

So of course a recomp was made for part 2 and not part 1 😂😂😂

Indeed. I replayed the first one not too long ago and it is still great imo. Haven't played the 2nd one since it was released but I'd definitely replay it
I've also played the first about 5 years back. It definitely holds up. I haven't seen this one in many years. I just wish they'd do another.

Ah awesome, this game was soo good!
Seeing a quick snippet of gameplay, it looks like alan wake 2 ripped off the concrete backroom with CRT tv look

I dont mind rexglue recomps, just hope bugs will be sorted out eventually. Like silent hill downpour recomp was pretty impressive
These are certainly interesting. Take away the real time execution of an emulator and apply the code execution to a natively completed executable that can be automatically optimized.

All of the systems IO is handled, you also have broken out the game logic into chunks. So you can directly target the rendering code to change things but not affect the game logic in any way. Or you directly target game logic to add new features. N64 Zelda games? Force the iron boots to a newly created button like the remakes so you don't need to keep going in and out of a menu. Remove frame limiters but have it not great game logic.

This was always possible to do, but you normally just ended up with de-compiled assembly. Now things can be made to be human readable.

Maybe they can do an Android port, would love to play this on my Retroid Pocket 5

I haven't found a good site or rep for Android de/recomps yet but I'm with you, my portable is where I want to play these. So far I have only found a small selection of Android ports of decompiled games (up to GameCube, just one game) but in theory, it's a floodgate waiting to open.

(GameNative or GameHub might be an alternative way to play PC recomps in Android, have you tried that yet?)

EDIT: Well good, scratch that, I found a great site for tracking Android decomps! They list everything I've heard of so far and more. (The Sonic Unleashed decomp is on Android, so maybe 360 ports like this are worth hoping for...l

This game was dark as fuck man. I remember playing it and thinking it was the most brutal game I had ever played (at the time). Legendary atmosphere

The department store… atmosphere, dread… genuinely scary. Those mannequins

for me it was the school. That fuckin locker scene, you know the one I'm talking about, scared the living shit out of me the first time. Literally remember launching the controller accross the room.

The github page mentions extracting an ISO from your original game disc... can you use any old DVD/blu ray drive now? I thought only certain drives (and firmware) were supported for reading Xbox discs?
