now i want to see him or someone do some drop tests. I'm not convinced that 'proprietary tech' will save the s8 from a corner drop.

Got a S8+ to play around with at home. Edges have red tint to them. This would be so much better without the curved edge display. Screen is beautiful though and the camera is legit. Bloat doesn't seem as bad on this phone.

-edit- lol every time I reboot phone it resets screen brightness

The red tint seems to be a lottery along with storage on the S8 and not the lkus (UFS 2.0 or 2.1). Fortunately, no red tint on this s8+.

The top edge of the screen on a store model I looked at had a red tint. Kinda like a red line on the top whenever something white was on the screen.
I honestly wonder if some of these smoothness complaints are related to the UFS 2.0/2.1 situation.
I doubt it. 2.0 should still be pretty fast. I think it's more a case of perception.

That's exactly what I've been pointing out this whole time!
If not there, then any time it's white on dark. It's why I could not consider the S8, since that would have gotten annoying quickly.

This is exactly what it is. You see it on white backgrounds. Can't believe reviewers don't call out this stuff. Brightness, clearness, and contrast on the screen are awesome, but the curved edges cause this red coloring or distortion.

I actually didn't want to point it out thinking it was just that device.

The red line in addition to the red tint caused by the curves really made it feel like a tech demo. I have no idea why Samsung's skin is so heavy on white when the screen looks so much better with dark content.

Have had a exynos dual sim s8 for a couple of days and this phone is super awesome. Never stuttered never lagged, 6 hours SoT.

It's my first samsung phone, always had google nexus phones in the past.

With package disabler pro and adhell(pay for neogaf gold), I dont even need root anymore. Turned off bixby and a couple of apps that came with the phone with and it's smooth sailing. Way higher build quality than any nexus phone I've had.

Used it for 6 hours straight the first day and it ran super cool. The nexus 6p would be burning into my skin in 20 mins.

Anyone have a list of things that are safe to turn off with package diabler pro? I'd like to run as lean as possible.

One plus dude is teasing the op5 lol. Hard to tell much with the "camo" case but it does seem like dual camera is confirmed.

Those are some massive cameras on the back :S

got my first proper scratch along the sides of my Pixel yesterday first proper damage to it and of course the first time I try to use it without a damn case :( hate being locked into a 2 year contract cause i've already been wanting to try out something new.

Blame the camo case. Those are designed to make it hard to judge the phone, like camo paint on prototype cars.

Curious if oneplus will stick with aluminum frame or go glass like everyone else in 2017.

Why not use the features that come free with the phone like Samsung pay and Bixby?

This S8+ camera is a beast. Focuses so fast. Too bad I'm only going to have this phone a few days. OnePlus 5 here we come. Hopefully they get their act together on the camera side.

My Axon 7 has randomly rebooted while locked in my pocket three times since I bought it. Any ideas?

I really dig this thing, shame I probably got a lemon.

Finally flashed Nougat to my Nexus 4 (7.1.2).
5.1.1 was getting really unstable so let's see how well this works. So far so good, really smooth, but it was in dire need of a fresh install. Got a rom with night light which works really well.

Wow. Just how hard is that? I have an old N4 still around and its stuck on 5.x I think. Whatever the last official google build was.

Last week :( It's secondhand. Think the owner said they had it for a couple months.

I just updated MiFavor, fingers crossed that it fixed it. I had my Nexus 5x for about a year and don't remember it ever rebooting.

It's not hard at all. All you need to do is unlock the bootloader (which is very easy on a Nexus), flash custom recovery (usually TWRP) and then flash your ROM of choice, as well as Google Apps.

I was more wondering about finding a slim enough build that would run on the N4s old processor and small amount of RAM and 16GB of storage. Though I'm not really familiar with custom builds at all. All I've ever flashed has been Google ISOs.

Not that hard. The Nexus root toolkit kinda borked because I was low on space and gapps thought it was on 5.1
I had never flashed or rooted an Android device before.

Basically just get Nexus root toolkit for your PC, use that to make some backups (and make some backups on your own if you have files you wanna take keep), run the test at the top (basically reinstall drivers and make sure all works well), then unlock the bootloader, then flash your rom (I used this one) and gapps (I used the one they recommended). When flashing make sure the que has the ROM first.

When I flashed it I got an error message from gapps (insufficient storage) and it looked like the setup just halted. The phone was in the bootloader which I used to manually wipe everything which accidentally deleted the files I needed to flash it so I ran the flash process from the PC again, got a different error from gapps (wrong Android version, thought I was on 5). I thought something had gone wrong, choose reboot in bootloader even though I got a warning that no os was installed, but eventually it booted into Nougat. I immediately opened the setting in the toolkit for installing stuff like gapps and this time it worked like a charm with the script doing everything.

Nexus Root Toolkit is supposed to just flash the device for you with a script, but doing it yourself really isn't hard. This video helped me when I had to do stuff on my own. https://youtu.be/ke6FzsYb1H4
I recommend deleting a bunch of files so you have plenty of space.

Afterwards I got no warnings, but I had to install the basic Google apps like chrome. Camera was nowhere in the Play Store on my phone, but pushing it from my PC via the Play Store website did the trick.

Update to the latest. Fresh format. If those don't solve your issue than... Welp

Anyone know how to set games to run a lower resolution than normal screen res on the s8? I can't find that option in game launcher.

Why not use the features that come free with the phone like Samsung pay and Bixby?

I do use samsung pay which is nice and one of the reasons I bought the phone. I've just turned off bixby and google assistant because I really don't care for them.

I think the game launcher works at whatever your game mode is set to in performance, so settings > Device Maintenance > Performance mode then click know Game (not the radio button) and customise

I'm from Germany and it's not being discounted here.

I think I'm going for the Mpow earbuds. Thanks for the suggestions.
These are generally better for gym use over the neck ones, which aren't great for active stuff. They flop around when running or doing bench stuff.
