Personally not really. I just feel like there hasn't been anything that is head and shoulders above last gen games and by that timeline the whole gen "ends" next year.

Generations mean nothing nowadays. You'll get a new console that has slightly better graphics and cross-gen games for most of the gen.

Not really. But I'll be there in the first 6 months for sure. I'm still in the camp that PS5 Pro was not needed if they are aiming for a 2027/2028 release.

The current gen barely started..

Remaster over remaster… games are not well optimized.

I Dont Morgan Freeman GIF

i'm still waiting on current gen games lol. i don't think i will buy a PS6 and that'll be the first PS console i don't buy. just so boring now with no good exclusives.

Not really, it doesn't feel like this generation ever got started. PS5 feels like PS4 Pro Pro(With PS5 Pro being PS4 Pro Pro Pro). And XBox just feels dead. The gens feel like cell phones now tbh.

They should put something on the current generation first before closing up
But given the precedent next gen will be 90% cross gen titles for 4 years so there's still a chance

The next gen of consoles will finally reach performance levels where developers can make stuff like rtgi and virtual geometry systems the norm which would eliminate most of my issues with classic game visuals.
So yeah, I'm "hyped'. I won't buy them ofc because I'm on PC, but I really want that general hardware progress in the industry.

Obviously.

I would prefer a refresh every 4-5 years. That way consoles won't lag behind severely.

Though it also means jump wont be as big, am OK with that.

The generations have lost meaning really.

We can already see what next-gen games will look like right now on PC.

Naturally I wanna play the best possible version of my favourite games on a console, so I'd probably pick up a PS6 in 2027 if it launched then.

But it's not the same excitement anymore because basically all games will be cross-gen and just scaled up and down visual settings and features.

Interesting take, didn't think of it like that. My take is to have a siginificant performance jump when a new console comes out.

If some1 choses to stay on outdated console in 2028 and beyond, more power to u guys.
Have fun enjoying ugly lastgen ports while still spending 70$ at launch while we might be paying 80(likely nextgentax) but at least games gonna look proper and not like:

I'm interested in PS 6 handheld, as for the home console, i think I'll stick in my ps5 pro and rtx 5070 gaming pc for quite a long time until PS6 pro's release.

Yes. A hardware boost is always nice.
This gen was great with the standardization of 60fps and fast loading on console.

Now next gen with stronger hardware and better upscaling tech should be able to push visual fidelity without having to murder the IQ and/or frame rate in the process.

For better or worse stuff like UE5 and advanced ray tracing are here to stay. And I don't want to play every game at sub 1080p resolution with FSR1-2 (or 30fps)

I just look forward to games and I play nearly all of them on PC. So don't much care about a new console generation. Very dependant on exclusive games.

Console manufacturers wait out a bit longer so the jump makes upgrading almost compulsory.

I understand the reasoning, marketing becomes a whole lot easier.

But looking at PC side of things, it moves at quiet a speed. Consoles simply lag behind for last 2-3 yrs.

lol, not a chance. Maybe if my oldest son wants a PS6 a couple years in I'll consider it, I don't want it at all for myself and he won't care about upgrading right away (plus I'm sure Sony will do a long cross gen period again)

I'll never not look forward to new hardware, that's just been one of my favorite cycles since I was a kid. I do think next gen will be the last "necessary" gen for a while though. Cross gen is gonna last forever with the hardware shit going on so next gen will most likely just be a way to play current gen games at 4k60 or 4k120 with enhanced RT thanks to ML upscaling and framegen with the occasional next gen exclusive really showing off.

Nah. This gen has been abysmal. Be fine to sit out the first few years of next with how much they'll lean on cross gen again.

No.
If it'll launch in 2027 we'll have 3-4 years of crossgen with PS5 (at best) being the design target for 99% of games.
This will be a rather pointless next gen for an owner of a PC with anything at or above 5800X3D+5070 level till about 2030.

Not really looking forward to it. Today buying consoles feels like a waste of money. I got a PS5 but hardly bought any games for it I use it mainly to play Final Fantasy 14. Similar to Switch 2 which I just use to play my Switch games.

I may get one for the kids eventually, but I've got no desire after this gen. I play PC nearly exclusively, but I had at least 25 games on PS4. I might have 4 or 5 PS5 exclusives this gen.
And don't say it's because Sony put all their games on PC--I haven't bought a Sony game for PC since Days Gone. This gen has been an utter disappointment for fans of Sony's single player games.

i got a PS5 for GTA VI....still waiting.

played 2 games on it that aren't even PS exclusives. the PS5 has just been for me to play games because I don't want to wait for the PC version of games (final fantasy vii remake, death stranding 2)

we definitely ain't getting a new GTA after VI until at least 2039 so yeah.... i will happily skip PS6 and PS7 lmao.

I'll be there day 1, probably not on both this time unlike last time because I'm far less confident MS is still in gaming for the right reasons, but either way I've never been less hyped for another generation because there's pretty much fuck all wrong with things as they are right now. New generations always bring good improvements, but each time it's less and less of a leap bringing jaw-dropping differences and this won't be any different, just continue the tailing off of the curve.

No. Modern "devices" have become so boring I don't look forward to replacing my current box and/or tablet by another random box/tablet.

Modern gaming is losing me a little bit more with every year that pass.

Yes. We'll finally have more power to not have it all absorbed by 60FPS and RT.
What power if all games will keep carry on with cross-gen releases, lmao, I barely played anything worth it on PS5, can't imagine how lame the PS6 library is gonna be...

No. Not at all. Currently I don't believe there's anything a PS6 could give me that I can't currently get from my PS5 Pro (after the PSSR 2 patch). I would love to be proven wrong.

"Hyped" is too strong a word. At the moment I'm mildly interested in seeing what the next gen brings about. I kinda feel like it's just going to be a PS5 Pro Pro - I'll be able to play the same games at higher resolution/framerate and maybe with more ray tracing. If it can do path tracing at a decent res/fps, that'd be cool. I'm sure I'll end up getting one, as I'm super excited for The Witcher 4 and I'm sure it'll have a nice next-gen version.
