Wha...wa...whuh...wuhhahu... whaaaa...?
Poor turn of phrase on my part, but it was a way of saying that just because the originals aren't going anywhere doesn't mean we can't criticise something that is believed (and rightly so, IMO) to be shitting on the concept this movie was birthed from, especially if we're passionate about it. I mean, if we used "The X movies aren't going anywhere" line for everything, what would've happened with the most recent Indy movie, the Star Wars prequels, Die Hard 4/5?
Not sure if you've ever lived in NY but if this actually happened, people would either completely ignore that or assume it's a street performer.
If they were going to assume it's a street performer, why not just go as themselves and assume the same thing?
In one of those photos, the turtle is basically the same stature and build as a regular person and could blend in fairly easily. One of the threads that's been fairly consistent across all iterations of TMNT (comic, live-action movies, TV shows) is their ability to blend in... or attempt to (often with hilarious results). And to an extent, they pull it off in most situations. But the suspension of disbelief required to try and pass off an ~8', girthy Invisible Man-wannabe as something that wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb is where I think a lot of people would draw the line. At least, I would be.
