Back in my day, we didn't even use iron sights. We had rifles only matches. On mp_harbor. And we were better for it.

If you really want nostalgia, go look at all the old CoD (don't forget Halo 3) montages from back when those were actually a thing. Or don't. It's really kind of cringe worthy.

like I can ge over UI changes even if it is jarring in terms o color palettes but whoever did the engineering and sound mixing straight up disrespectful with the annoucer voices and weapons.

The sound design is an absolute fucking dumpster fire. I just dont get it. Do the devs think it sounds "cool" or "neat"?! It's seriously some of the worst sounding garbage in a game to date.

Seriously, what the hell were they thinking? I get that they want to improve on the game just like with the graphics, but everything sounds awful. The guns, the announcers, the killstreak sounds are all a huge step down.

And with that it shows that they don't know what the heck there doing a shame because the sound was good as it was.

I really can't agree the sound in COD4 was 'as good as it was'. COD4s gun sounds have never been great.

Listen to what a Desert Eagle sounds like in COD4 That is not what a gun sounds like, that horrible compressed/grindy noise as it tails off. Guns sound a lot more clear/crisp in real life.

Listen to Battlefields Desert Eagle and a real desert eagle.

That COD4 desert eagle noise is just grating, hell I found it grating on release years ago.

What's more special about MW2 is that it has 6 different factions in multiplayer,every single one of them has it's unique themes,unique announcers etc.

I don't think we'll ever see this kind of quality again,especially in CoD.

Man I loved those days. Harbor was the best. Even hosted my own servers back then was pretty easy to do.

Also CoD2 was great. Toujane 24/7 Bolt rifles only so good.

The SAS/Craig Fairbrass voiceover especially which I consider a big part, it just honestly never entered into my mind they'd be changed. I didn't think it would bother me as much as it does, probably due to the quality of the new ones.

If COD4 is the only game that you're interested in, you'll still be saving money buying it standalone, even if it costs $60. Remember, Activision is charging $80 for Infinite Warfare + COD4.

While I can live with the new sound design, Call of Duty 4 is second place in creating an authentic war-like soundscape (first goes to everything in the Battlefield series after Bad Company.) This sounds a lot like the Advanced Warfare School of Sound Design, particularly the "Make Everything Sound Like A Tin Can" course. It's not even close to the original CoD4's sound, but like I said, I'll live with it.

The new sound could be guys yelling "pew pew pew, boom!" and I'd still play it. It's Call of Duty 4, all prettied up! How could you not?

I think because all the footage captured was from Lan sessions everything seems a little sped up.

Also yeah the M40 sounds like poo, seriously bumming me out. With the new ADS animation, the ugly DoF scope and the crappy sound it looks like some generic ass sniper ripped straight from COD Ghosts.

I'm aware, I'd still rather have two games, it's an incredible value proposition. I initially was buying Infinite Warfare solely for MWR, I thought "hell, I'm getting IW for $20 bucks," but I'm super intrigued by a lot of the SP stuff, so I'm more than willing to fork over the $80.

Kinda miss that aspect of older CoDs. So many different MP teams with different music and announcers. Gave each match a different feeling. Now it's like only two teams per game :l
