If we get a version of the CE i'm all over it...
Wonder if by more news soon they mean Gamescom.

I understand these different regional divisions operate separately from one another, but this is Persona 5 we're talking about here. The game will be a guaranteed critical smash and, potentially, the installment to propel the franchise from its niche bracket and into a broader market. This isn't some risk on the level of a Demon's Souls, where Sony somewhat understandably assumed that the game would sink without a trace outside of Japan. Persona is an established franchise, and the buzz surrounding 5 is on a far bigger scale compared to what's come before.
I just find it baffling. It really makes Sega look like some small time publisher now.
Tbf that's not saying much once you get past Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Pokemon, Souls, and Yokai Watch, even if we're including Japan.
We're at what, a few hundred thousand in Europe by then? And they'd have to maintain physical distribution in a bunch of countries to handle these rare products?
Take a seat real quick, Europe; we need to talk. I know we haven't always gotten along together, but that's the past. And the past is the past. We're looking toward the future. And it's a bright one, because Atlus USA and Sega of America are partnering with Deep Silver to release multiple upcoming titles in Europe.
Could they be handling Yakuza 0 as well? I feel like they would be.
Nothing to be excited about yet... we already knew they would bring P5 to Europe SOMEDAY. There's no date or details from this announcement. Until then I ain't getting my hopes up for a close to US launch date.
Besides Deep Silver isn't exactly a name that fills me with confidence.
Dark Souls 1 sold over 5.5 million copies, and did so primarily in the West.Europe (especially France, Spain and Italy) is a big market for JRPGs, arguably bigger than North America, even though it is definitely trickier because of the different languages. But Persona is probably a close third after Pokémon and FF these days, it is definitely a lot bigger than DQ, Yokai Watch and probably even Dark Souls. If they played their cards right, Atlus could be a big deal in Europe but they just don't seem interested.
It's pretty exciting we'll get SMT4A, considering the 3DS is region-locked... And I guess two or three people are interested in 7th Dragon as well.
Since Catherine (also Deep Silver back in the days) came with EFIGS translations we could finally get the first Persona with this treatment and maybe some other titles from ATLUS aswell. Though probably not all. Interesting to see how Deep Silver will handle this.

What on earth are you expecting Persona 5 to sell?

Any chance P5 gets Multi 5 localization?
Worth noting Project DIVA X and SEGA 3D Classics Collection have both been rated in Australia (and Germany for the former), so it could be SEGA Europe are handling those themselves for some reason.
That's a pretty warped view of the situation. JRPGs (in general) usually sell well in France, but it takes a lot of effort and luck to make them sell in the rest of Europe. Persona isn't even remotely close to being anywhere near as big as you think it is. It's very much a niche series, to the point where not a single installment of nu-Persona has been translated to FIGS. P5 has the potential and the hype to become a hit, but it'll take more than just dropping the US version with a PEGI logo months after the US release.
So who is publishing it in the UK?
I said "probably" !
And I think 3-4 million copies is a reasonable expectation for Persona 5. I know 3 and 4 sold in the hundreds of thousands but it seems to me that the series is about to blow up with 5. I might be wrong of course but I believe Sega and Atlus are leaving a lot of money on the table.
Oh well, as long as I get to play the game sometime in 2017...
It's funny because SEGA did issue their statement saying they'd be interested to bring it here ... without reference to any other European country. So who is publishing it in the UK?

Add to that the game is only going to be released on 2 consoles. The entire Persona series sold 6m units and you expect one to do up to 4m?

Wasn't this some time before the Brexit referendum? They knew, those god-darned future seers! It's funny because SEGA did issue their statement saying they'd be interested to bring it here ... without reference to any other European country.

Chicken and egg
Is it niche because it's not being translated or is it not translated because it's niche? Barely anyone has tried to make JRPGS sell in Europe.
Lol at the statement part "the past is the past" as if Atlus is past any criticism now.
It's far from over, it's just basic publishing being done now. We still don't know about release date delays, possible DLC or content issues between regions, etc.
3-4 millions WW for Persona 5 is not reasonable at all, even if the series is more popular than before...
SMT boxed or digital only ?
Namco has been (and keeps) trying as much as much as these kind of games can really afford nowadays. Didn't work so well. Sure, Persona 5 is more attractive to the average guy than milquetoast Tales of game 46, but it's still a gamble.
Yeah Excited that SMT4A will potentially get a retail release here after SMT4 being digital only (and the first and only full-price digital only game I've ever bought on consoles).
I feel like that's cheating because SMT4 in EU was sold digitally at one hell of a discount.
I'm translating the info on that link because it's important that people understand why it's such a risky move to bring niche JRPGs into Europe, especially when they pull a Multi 5 translation along with it.
@Jose_Strife
"Tales of Xillia 2, a game properly localized in Spanish, has sold 2000 units, less than half of what Xillia 1 did in the same time period."
@Jose_Strife
"Tales of Xillia, a game that came out a year ago with a Spanish translation, which can be found now at half its original price, hasn't reached 10.000 units."
I've personally seen Day One editions of those games being sold at less than half their original prices several months after their launch in places like France. Namco actually lost money over this, which is very bad and very likely one of the reasons why Sega of Europe didn't even bother considering localizing 7th Dragon III.
It also included one hell of a delay.

I was there. It was suffering. And then the game turned out to be disappointing.
