Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
How did the last-gen versions of Saints Row turn out? After testing seven modes across the PS5 and Series X editions, here there's only a single setting per console. Curiously PS4 Pro turns in the best performance of the last-gen quartet, while Series X pushes the best image quality by running at 1440p. As for the base PS4 and Xbox One consoles? Tom investigates their fortunes.

TL;DR
- No multiple performance toggles like the new consoles
- One X: 1440p, PS4 Pro: 1080p, OG PS4: 1080p, Xbox One: 864p
- All versions run with unlocked frame rate but it hovers around the 30~ mark almost everywhere, with drops to 20s
- One X looks 'significantly cleaner' but Pro is 'smoother overall' in performance
- Xbox One can run 5~ FPS faster than base PS4
- Base XBO and PS4 versions have notable graphical cut backs compared to the Pro and One X
