GAF never learns.

4.8Gflops is the new 3DS btw. Old 3DS was 0.6.
FP32:
WiiU=176
Switch docked=393
Switch undocked=157
Vita=20
3DS=lol
XboxOne=1300
Edit: beaten like the Switch in handheld mode.
Now if it's confirmed that it's a really really low power console..
Man Nintendo may be fucked with the way they present things here, and the project itself.
I'd be ok to call it a portable, and that's still a great update for that, except.. It's not really discussed enough but that form factor is crappy for a portable. I mean a portable that you take out.
I don't see a japanese kid having this. It's not about tiny hands or anything. It's that nds and 3ds looked more toyish, more kid friendly. Imagine a kid taking the 3ds with him to school. Now, picture the same kid taking that 7"+ techy thing. It's not the same thing, at all.
All i'm saying is there is a risk here. if they don't release a Switch mini sometimes, that they weaken their main revenue source while achieving nothing on the console front.
I think the CPU upgrade will be a major help.At this point, I just hope Zelda doesn't run worse than the Wii U version in undocked mode.
So basically the handheld is a portable Wii U and something a bit more powerful when docked to support output resolutions.
We have not seen a single screen from those games.
Skyrim runs on the PS3 as well.
Same thing for DQXI, between the 3DS version and the PS4 version there are a lot of things in between.
Neither of these are facts as neither have been confirmed.

I just don't understand that after WiiU they willingly would go for niche.
The world is full of Nintendo fans. When Nintendo makes affordable hardware with good software, people buy it. When they make a Wii U, people run in the other direction.
To me, there's far more room in the marketplace for Switch over something like Xbox One.
Eh the GPU wasn't upgraded in the new 3DS. Nor does any of of those values make sense, are you using CPU flops (I still don't think they're right)? It doesn't really make sense to talk about flops for 3DS GPU since it doesn't have programmable pixel shaders. (for vertex shaders alone it should be about 4 GFLOPS unless my calculations are off)

I hope you like using controls without games.Where is the evidence that the world is currently full enough of Nintendo fans to support a console. With the exception of the Wii, Nintendo consoles have steadily been given less support over the years. Excluding the Wii is appropriate because most of its hype came from people buying the console for motion controls, not Nintendo games.

This is 100% the cycle we went through with the Wii U. Although thankfully step 3 there is very uncommon and reminds me more of certain Xbox One reveal rumours.
Switch has support for UE4.Come. On. Let's bring a bit of logic here : what we saw during the Switch reveal trailer was the special edition.The LKD leaks were talking about the special edition. The most recent version, and the only one that makes sense to be ported, is the special edition.
Same for DQXI, why would that be anything else than the UE4 version ? Unless they're developping a whole new version, with a completely different look, but we have no basis for that claim. The Switch is running UE4, so it will runs the UE4 version. The 3DS is not running the UE4 version because it's not powerful enough, so they had to make a different version.
These are not facts, but nothing in this thread is a fact either, it's either all of them or nothing.

Would this essentially mean the Switch sits between the Wii U and the XB1?
My only fear is regarding 3rd party support to be honest.
So how many GFlops is it then? Should i buy it? I couldn't play the new Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, Dragon Quest XI etc knowing that it has less GFlops than my GTX 980
Yeah and as I was reminded a bit earlier finally play games and be happy with it.
Thanx, numbers are ok. I expected at least 700Gflops when docked.
Switch has support for UE4.
Skyrim Special Edition looks marginally better, runs about the same.
I can easily see it running on the Switch with some optimization but obviously it's Bethesda so I can see it running out the gate at like 20-30fps.
But NVIDIA Gflops aren't the same as AMD Gflops right?
On the GPU, yes. It also has 40℅ as many pixels to render.Holy shit only 40% of the power while undocked?!
That's how I took it. A parody of how hyperbolic people are on Gaf every goddamn day.I'm gonna assume it's a joke post

Yeah, this is disappointing.
However -
- Switch will be over 50% more powerful than the Wii U when docked.
- Will be 30x more powerful than a 3DS, and 5x more powerful than a Vita when undocked.
- Price should be quite low, around $250, possibly even $199.
- Most importantly - this most likely will be the first system in a family of Switch devices. In a 1-2 years, I can easily see Nintendo releasing a "Switch Pro" with a 1080p screen, double the GPU power (using Pascal/Volta), ARM A72 cores with higher clocks, etc.
Only if it's priced right. The 3DS didn't start selling well until it was priced sub $200. Im hoping this is only $200 as it's pretty much a handheld.Let's be honest it's probably gonna sell great because their handhelds always do. This is Nintendo from now on I'd guess. Handhelds that connect to the TV.
