GAF: Let's discuss the likes and dislikes of the first year of XB1 and PS4's life.

Dislikes:
- All the console wars bullshit
- This gen isn't a big enough jump in gfx quality (although I understand why - design to a price point, no more massive console subsidies by manufacturers)

Likes:
- Prettier games.

I agree with this post!

-Great games,Sunset Overdrive is my GOTY so far
-Controller is better than I thought it will be.It is really comfortable (even more than x360 pad) and triggers are amazing.I hope that it will last longer than xbox 360 controllers, they had pretty poor buid quality.
-Ability to play during downloading/instalation.I have slow connection and this feature is really great for me.Also it worked really good in almost all games.
-Game DVR works really good and I like that feature a lot.
-Console is whisper quiet.
-I like the UI and it's features. It's not perfect and there is a lot room for improvement but it is already pretty good.Really like pins. They make things really simple and fast.
-EA access

Don't like:

-Dahsboard can be slow.Sometimes simple thing like checking what achievement I unlocked can take too much time.
-Weak hardware.Even so games are looking really good I can't help not to think about how could they look with some better components.
-Headset is just cheap piece of plastic. For me it is even worse than x360 mic.
-No screenshot feature

Same core issue with both systems: no killer app.

The best game I've played this year, Dragon Age, I could have just played on a PC.

The other great games like Last of Us and Diablo 3, are old games that predate this new generation.

Microsoft has had some good exclusives, but nothing like Gears of War or the original Halo. And Sony? Good god. Their year one exclusives are so bad that the Metacritic isn't high enough on most of them to offer as free PS+ games.

So yeah. Hopefully 2015 is much better on that front.

PS4:

Likes:
- Generally better framerates across the board, as opposed to just nicer visuals.
- Great controller!
- Really enjoyable selection of games for Plus, i actually appreciate it when they load up on indies as i usually purchase a lot of boxed games. Plus cross buy with vita, unbeatable.
- Trophy app indicates rarity now.
- Playstation Store is much faster vs. Vita and especially PS3
- Incredible selection of games for a first year console.

Dislikes:
- Trophies not viewable offline.
- Still a crap media player.
- Mandatory full (?) installs for everything? Advanced Warfare, NBA 2K15, Unity and Evil Within take up like half of my usable space, which is nuts considering the disc is in the tray. Need 2TB upgrade, its like a vita with an 8gb card.
- Wildly fluctuating download speeds for patches and games.
