How come Kojima's research is SO on point?

i don't know if it is coincidence or another bit of KojiResearch, or even if it was a big story back in the day and everybody knows about it except me.

But I was looking at a wiki page for a movie called "Felt"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felt_(film)

And a sentence reads
"The film is based on the true events about an FBI agent, Mark Felt, who became an anonymous source ("Deep Throat")"

They directly reference him in MGS1.

I can assure you it's definitely not. Look at any game, movie, or even a book with a high attention to details. Even authors are getting input from experts or friends who are highly knowledgeable enthusiasts in a subject matter that gives the writer an insight into an obscure topic.

There is never 1 person with so much knowledge unless they have a photographic memory.

Or they just do research. Not much difference between a person telling you something or them writing it down and you reading it later. This doesn't require photographic memory, although this can help in making the appropriate connections, but just taking notes.

I don't think very much research at all is needed for the things described in the OP.

Also I'm quite sure Kojima isn't responsible for the entirety of the games content, there are many other people working with him.

He is a very good reader and picks the themes that would go well with his games. He also pays attention to detail. We see Afghan War, child soldiers, space race, nuclear deterrence etc. which are parts of modern history but suprisingly not many games tackle these topics. He puts tiny details into characters backgrounds, like Sniper Wolf being a Kurd. It has link to a legendary Kurdish sniper woman, which is kind of an urban legend probably, that waged war in Turkish-Kurdish conflict. He named her Wolf as he thought Kurd means wolf in Turkish but actually the word "kurt" means wolf in Turkish so there is a bit misunderstanding there lol.

Also we see that some themes he used well before taking roots actually in real world, like MGS2's corrupted social media/ information feed and MGS4's PMC Proxy Wars.

These things are why i like his output, we can see alternate worlds how thing could have been and possible futures ahead of us.

Theres even a "Military Advisor" on the opening credits of Metal Gear. And yet people would like to believe Kojima that does everything. The team that made MGSV from the disaster that was that game development should get more credit.

Deep Throat was the name for the world famous informant on the Watergate scandals.

And Konami actually took "Deep Throat" from the X-files, who had been using it for years and made it a household name. This is why in MGS2 he's replaced by Mr X, the name of the character who replaced Deep Throat in the X files.

I'm with you in this. I know of DARPA lot because of MGS, but because they're insanely well known as a military technology company. Not only that, but military ranks are fairly common knowledge and easily accessible information.

I mean it's nice and all but.. not as spectacular as this threads makes it out to be.

Also i remember reading a scientist filed a lawsuit against Kojima/Konami for using his likeness without consent.
His area of work is head transplant.
We see him as the doctor who treats you at the start of MGSV.
He also says he was approached by people from company at a gathering in fucking CYPRUS lol

All MGS games have a Military Advisor and it's been the same man: Motosada Mori.

After battle experience in regional conflicts, he has participated in SWAT training instructions and the protection of the Dalai Lama 14th (Nobel Peace Prize winner). He then became a writer. He has established "Mori International" which specializes in the prediction of violent crimes, threat assessment and countermeasures and has since given advice as a specialists to corporations and security organizations.
