I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes

Why not both?
You finally got it.

Everyone with different jobs are too busy looking down their noses and slinging mud back and forth to see that AI and robotics can be all-purpose if or when the creators deem it to be.

A tool to help with all things you don’t want to do, or can’t do, or want help with, regardless of trade or interest, would probably be one future possibility.

...but we have machines that do our laundry and our dishes? And they're quite efficient at it, too.

Or do you take your clothes and trot to the nearest stream to wash your dirty clothes on rocks alongside the riverbed?

It's no longer monumental anymore. Motors and actuators have improved tremendously over the past couple years. And AI assisted learning of visual tasks has enabled similar progress in areas related to manipulation of physical objects in a real environment. An affordable robot that does your laundry will be possible this decade.

I have no doubt that it’s possible, if not probable that a robot will be more than capable of performing those tasks within the next decade, it’s that OP thinks to seem AI is far off from being able to do so, when the reality is that robotics is more the bottleneck.

I invest in a lot of robotics companies and you are right; within 10 years they will be performing janitorial services, but it will be unlikely that the average consumer owns one in that timeframe. What we will more likely see are companies that offer them as a service, deploying a $50,000 robot at your business, hospital, city, etc. for a fee. Eventually, those services will be offered to homes for a fraction of the cost of a housekeeper, and someday, the price will plummet to the point where every home will have their homes cleaned entirely by robots every day.

they ONLY care about the money and their work
I’m reminded of the early days of YouTube when everyone wasn’t trying to make it their job and uploaded things for fun not money. Unless it was that way all along and I just didn’t notice until things got extra blatant with the like and subscribe begging.

I want OP to do my laundry and dishes so that AI can do art and writing, not for OP to do my art and writing so that AI can do my laundry and dishes

I mean so long as I'm not doing either I'm probably good, but if I can layer in some extra oppression, why not?

too late. for the first time in our history, a technological revolution will displace the white collars en masse before the blue collars.
I told my nieces they should think about becoming plumbers or electricians since those will probably be among the highest paying regular people jobs in 10 years.

I like how tribal people get
"AI is threatening my job and livelihood"
"OH SO YOU THINK AI SHOULD TAKE MY JOB INSTEAD!!?? FUCK YOU, HOPE YOU LOSE YOUR JOB EVEN FASTER NOW!"

Not realising that when it's possible, AI will take your job too and everyone will be jobless and have to fight for themselves whilst the rich laugh at us before realising "wait, if people are too poor to buy our stuff, how will we continue constant growth?".

*AI discovers news drugs and cures millions of terrible diseases*

Socialists: but somebody will make a profit!
By all means, this is a good use for AI, why isnt more focus being put into that? Like, lets go hard into this, whatever we're doing now, push it more, let's push AI onto something that will benefit humanity. No, that's not happening though, instead AI is being trained to wipe out jobs by creatives and white collar workers.
