So an Italian retailer listed MSI one for €1500. A Z2 Extreme version of their handheld goes up to €1100. U.S. version of that handheld goes for $1300. If you extrapolate, that €1500 becomes $1900...

AMD aint making profit per SoC on Sony. They are going with either guaranteed sales of say 50M, or paying like $50M for SoC development outright, then just manufacturing cost per SoC. Intel are charging MSI per SoC with profits.

Sony aint paying RAM and SSD at MSI rates. Much cheaper because of much bigger contracts with much greater quantities.

Sony aint making giant 8" premium PC handheld with Windows and 80+WHr battery. Expect something smaller and more efficient.

2.9GHz 890M is performing about 60% of 2.2GHz B390.

RDNA5 should be about 1.3x raster and 2x+ of RT of RDNA 3.5 so 16 CU RDNA5 of PS6 Hanheld should perform better than B390 in Arc G3 Extreme.

Uh yeah....they are. They've manufactured 100s of millions of products. That sort of volume gets you favorable terms. Will those terms be as favorable as they were for previous gens? Most certainly not. WIll costs also be higher? Definitely. But Sony is a customer that they will keep happy.

He was comparing Sony's volume to MSI's. Sure Sony needs to compete but their volume gets them a better deal than MSI. This doesn't mean PS6 will be cheap, just that they do have some advantages.

Kepler is a combination of a hype poster and an AMD/Sony fan.

It's not impossible, it's just PS6H will not beat B390 even in docked mode. B390 is around 1.8x 890M.

I think full powered B390 might come out ahead. With restricted power, not sure how it will go.

Restricted power itself has the issue that the CPU exists and in games it steals power and gets in the way. And it's hard to account for that in projections.

It's why strix halo GPU only benches are way better than how it does in games. The CPU starves out the GPU.

Intel has good unicore and great software (intelligent bias control) for it. Furthermore it hits max game performance at 45W TDP.

Kepler's statement is very unlikely to be true.

Restricted power certainly makes things more interesting. It's one of the Deck's strengths, for as weak and picked on as it is, all the new handhelds so often have trouble competing with it at the 10 to ~15W TDPs, at least running in Windows vs Steam OS as well.

But give the new handhelds the room to push 30W+ and the Deck is left in the dust. But then again, so are the battery runtimes lol.

Very curious if any of these new handhelds will sport 4+ hour battery life and a huge speed increase over the Deck, which generally sees a 4-12 hour battery life.

It will play both since Sony is pretty much forcing devs to make Low Power Mode version of their PS5 games.

Will the PS5 LPM version run @ 60fps? Yo no se, but the PS4 version definitely will, and prolly @ 120Hz. You'd just be in roaming in a dead city. lol

30W PL1 PantherLake (2.0 GHz GPU | Min clock CPU) should be inline with docked PS6H.

PS6H being 15W in docked is somewhat weird.

Why did we have a situation where Crimson Desert launched on AMD but not Intel GPUs? Releases like these on custom engines, alongside the potential of x86 Nvidia APUs, make me skeptical.

Intel even uses a DXVK translator for DX9 games, whilst AMD apparently runs them natively.

Italian to Italian ratio for Arc G3X to Z2E versions is €1500 vs €1100. So $1300 Z2E version will become $1900 Arc G3X version in the States. Tax included or not in Italy is irrelevant.

Only difference between X7/X9 Panther Lake and Arc G3/G3 Extrene Panther Lake die size wise are 2 P cores. Not enough to move the needle.
