I don't have the actual numbers, but if you're talking this generation on consoles, I would imagine RSII for the GC would fit the bill -- I think it's just under one million.

The ghost of Dreamcast past
Looks like licensing TV/movie shows for portable video watching has shown some potential for the videogame companies, or other content providers, with applicable IP:

GBA ALL GROWN UP VOL 1 $337,377 17,474
GBA CARTOON NTWK COL VOL1 $179,852 9,022
GBA CODENAME:KIDS VOL 1 $63,089 3,159
GBA DORA EXPLORER VOL 1 $260,741 13,467
GBA FAIRLYODD VOL 1 $618,225 31,065
GBA FAIRLYODD VOL 2 $579,356 29,112
GBA NICKTOONS COLL VOL 1 $1,022,025 51,395
GBA NINJA TURTLES VOL 1 $11,228 562
GBA SPONGEBOB VOL 1 $874,214 45,085
GBA SPONGEBOB VOL 2 $757,599 38,183
GBA STRAW SHORTCAKE VOL 1 $174,214 8,973
GBA YU-GI-OH! VOL 1 $26,467 1,323

And SEGA's catalog properties can contribute to their bottom line this way in addition to just game sales:

GBA SONIC X VOL 1 $475,254 23,814 (Majesco)

All Nintendo needs to do now is to release some exclusive episodes of the Pokemon cartoon like this to really launch this thing.

Well they're not exclusive but...

GBA POKEMON VOL 1 $476,610 24787
GBA POKEMON VOL 2 $304,757 15876

...I wonder why no other 3rd parties have jumped on the GBA Video Bandwagon? Or why Sega and Konami didn't publish Sonic X and Yu-Gi-Oh! themselves?

I think Majesco holds the rights to the GBA Video technology... (and anyway, those particular game properties are licensed to other networks/kids animation studios for use in animation probably)

Yeah, Nintendo was pretty smart setting up specific companies for IP licensing (The Pokemon Company, WarpStar Inc, etc). I wonder if they'll publish the Kirby cartoon on GBA Video also?

If the trend continues, it looks like Nintendo/Majesco scored big with Classic/GBA Video. I was really interested in seeing how the GBA Video lineup did. Some of the lesser Classic games sold better than I thought they would.

UBI are making shit loads on those tactical shooters.

And they've got an expansion for Rainbow Six next month. Whew.

GC hardware is just sucking. You can hear it out your window. I wonder if RE this year would have made more of a difference come xmas. They should bundle the GBA with it already.

"Wind Waker - 1,476,718
Luigi - 1,411,482"

Wow. Luigi's mansion might pass wind waker in sales. I never saw this coming. This month:GCN ZELDA: THE WIND WAKER $510,474 10333
GCN LUIGI'S MANSION $560,584 31730

Even with the lower price for Luigi, notice the profit for Luigi was more too. Wind waker will get a sales boost when Nintendo finally lowers the price, but even so, I'd say Luigi has been a huge success for them. Halo always gets props for its legs, but Luigi needs props too!:)

Would that include Nintendo's GBA totals? Pretty please?

Meier's in charge of those.

Anyway, I'll be back in about two-four hours for the Sega numbers. SoAL sold a lot (near 10k), so it broke 100,000. Sonic Mega Collection sold 55k, which is a ton, and SA2B is about 4k from 900k.

Soul Calibur 2 sold about 125k across all platforms this month, too. The power of price drops.

Heh, I expected Xbox to begin closing the gap between PS2. Instead PS2 outsold Xbox&GC combined and then some. Guess it was a one time thing for the Box.

Well, not to sound like a fanboy (probably too late :p) but Nintendo has gotten more marketshare in software, thanks in part to EA's drop.

This increase, however, will immediately be erased once Madden shows up.

Yeah the YOY June figures do refelct the price cuts this year however. Last June didnt have any significant price cut.

Here's something a little interesting. MS3 for the Xbox managed to outsell KOF00/01 on the PS2 in 2 moths.

Topspin 216k
Counter Strike 321k
Crimson Skies 315k
Ninja Gaiden 467k
Splinter Cell 2 400k

Splinter Cell 2 is a bit low but give it time, and Ninja Gaiden is doing better than I thought considering the level of difficulty. Topspin surpassed many peoples expectations and I'm surprised by Crimson Skies and Counter Strike.

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle will probably end up being the first third party GC million seller, and it hasn't even dropped to $19.99. I hope Sega does that when it does break a million, which can be as soon as this Christmas or New Years.

PS2 SONIC HEROES $901,475 18,170
