You have to hand it to the author, when this first launched people made fun of it, there was this whole meme about ironically calling it the "peak", "goat", "best thing ever".
But he just kept at it, improving the art, adding cool new characters and making hype battles that slowly turned a lot of the haters into proper fans.

The manga is pretty fun. A lot of derivative ideas, but the fights have been great and the action in particular has some of the best art and coolest panels of the current Jump manga lineup.

I'm hyped but also nervous, like this series lives and dies by its vibe, sword fights, and that dark aura. If the animation hits, it could legit be JJK/Demon Slayer level. If it misses, yeah, we don't talk about that.

The story and characters also have improved dramatically over the years. It starts off as a super basic revenge story with decent enough characters but once you hit the Rakuzaichi auction arc and you're "allright allright this is pretty dope" and then the Sword Bearer Assassination arc that introduces all kinds of awesome characters and explains more about the Enchanted Blades and stuff and that's when it really starts popping off.

Started September 2023, 4 million copies sold so far pre anime with 11 volumes out as of May 1st. It probably won't ever do JJK or Demon Slayer numbers because that was caused by COVID, but it is the next big thing to come out of Shounen Jump.

Director is the animator for Rock Lee VS Gaara in Naruto.
