I wouldn't even say that it's the best looking cross gen game(outside of cutscenes at least). And no it's not the first next gen game. There've been other games that've come out where the gameplay and world very clearly couldn't be handled on last gen consoles even if they were to simply reduce the super detailed graphics to a level comparable to last gen. It's without a doubt the best looking cross-gen game and the fact that it's open world, 60fps and looks this good is an incredible achievement from Kojima Productions.
Like some previewers said MGSV is the first real next-gen game because of the gameplay. You can call motherbase anytime for support, equipment, changing your buddy etc. and it's all in real time without any loading screens.
That to me is more impressive than anything we've seen yet of next-gen only games.

Not just Konami... but pretty much every single company on the planet. No one will ever give Kojima that much money and that much control ever again.
The only chance is a KickStarter that gets Star Citizen levels of funding.
I'm sitting here thinking I'm in a bizzaro world where someone think Assassin's Creed games are very well designed and Kojima is overrated.

Is it a place where World of Goo is considered a profound meditation on capitalism and Metal Gear Solid 2 is at most a "popcorn flick"? I think we must be stuck in the same place.
ITTeople trying to do some revisionist history painting me as some kind of Kojima and metal gear hater. For example?
I'm calling bull on this one. You are constantly downplaying MGSV despite this remarkable feat that I have seen no other dev accomplish to this date (1080P, 60 FPS, OPEN WORLD!). All those games you think look better don't even have all 3 elements and aren't WAY better looking despite scaling back performance for eye candy, like Assassins Creed.
Please find the post in this thread where I state that kojima is overrated. I'll wait.I'm sitting here thinking I'm in a bizzaro world where someone think Assassin's Creed games are very well designed and Kojima is overrated.

Also, what in the world? metal gear solid is not the first to be 1080p, 60fps, or open world.
Over the past year i've seen you reiterate the bolded as if it's the first game to ever do that, in fact, it's not even the first metal gear game to do that.So which cross-gen game looks better in your opinion?
btw. cutscenes graphics = gameplay graphics
It's all real time and seamless transition between cutscenes and gameplay.
Because they used next gen consoles for a framerate boost and resolution boost instead of a huge "best of the industry" style graphics like with other next gen open world games are accomplishing at the cost of the framerate. If it was a next gen only game, with scaled up graphics, the same world(s), and 60fps I'd be incredibly impressed by that compared to say the world of the W3, (those wheat fields).Of course not. Metal Gear Solid V is the first to be 1080P, 60 FPS, AND open world on console.
Agreed.Has anyone bothered to check if there's a clause in Kojima's contract that says they can't use his name to promote their games if he's not working for them? Because that really seems more likely to be the situation than it being a calculated insult to a former employee.
MGS' sales as a series do not support this statement at all. The whole point here is that the MGS games don't sell enough to justify their cost.
Now I just think you're trolling.
Are you real? They are a company. If they don't make a profit, they go bust. And then they won't make new MGS games for sure.
Did you just call Konami's execs bitches because they aren't willing to go bankrupt over a Kojima game? Hundreds losing their jobs is "worth it." Oh my lord...
Can you at least comment on the actual conversation, please? I'd like to see people address and defend Dr. Kaos' point number two with an actual argument besides "it's sarcasm".
Look, i like Kojima games and all and just WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING WHEN YOU WROTE THIS?
Haven't they invested in Metal Gear Solid for like twenty years now? Also businesses shouldn't be run off blind faith.

I never said it is and i'm still waiting for your answer.
Reading the "Snake Soups" tweets we really shouldn't take this news as gospel. It's just a theory of hers and not something she knows 100%.
No but you used pretended to, I recall you being very adamant about "confirming" that ACU didn't have realtime cutscenes for instance. At one point even claiming that ACU didn't have seamless transitions from cutscenes to gameplay, (you know besides that being a thing since the first game.)I never said it is and i'm still waiting for your answer.

From my point of view this makes MGSV the best looking game on the system, maybe even the best looking console game ever made.
Kojima: I want MGS V at 1080p 60 fps on console
Konami: What's wrong to 900p and 25 fps? You have idea how much could cost?
Kojima: Don't care. I want it.
Konami: That's enough. It's the last game from you, get out!
Hence why I also used Far Cry 4 as an example, you never said anything about them not being open world games. And because he's a pc gamer his opinion takes prevalence over mine or the general gaming populace? I mean, which aspect looks better? Do the textures look better than many next gen only games? No. Do the characters models? Definitely no. Do the rain effects look better than say Arkham Knight? Foliage, no. etc etc. Other games have vast environments, in full HD, with different weather and terrain. Claiming it's the best looking console game ever is pretty ridiculous. As always agree to disagree, comparing a game like Alien: Isolation to MGSV is just ridiculous.
Also this guy is a PC gamer and can't stop praising how good the game looks on PS4. He knows what he's talking about since he was at the preview event and got to play the game for 16 or so hours.
For example?
Yeah, Kojima is really known for pursuing rock-solid framerates.
And because he's a pc gamer his opinion takes prevalence over mine or the general gaming populace?
I actually did misread part of the post, which is my bad.Way to put words in his post

We have enough HD footage of the game to get a good idea of what the game looks like, and no, you're being completely disengenous by saying yes to any of those questions, it's been well established and discussed that the models in the game have areas that look low poly compared to models from next gen only games like say Batman or Poison Ivy, Arno or Elise, and Geralt or Yennefer, the biggest difference being the hair rendering. Come on now. I mean sure when the game was first revealed it was mindblowing but games have pushed way past that.Yes and i even disagree to FC4, don't get me wrong the game looks great but overall MGSV looks better.
No, his opinion takes prevalence because he actually played the fucking game unlike you.
Oh so suddenly we're talking about next-gen only games? well ok, even there i can answer most questions you asked with a yes.
But what really makes MGSV so good looking is the lighting, seriously it's probably the best i've ever seen in any game. The only game i can think of that is similar is The Order 1886 but all the other games like UC4 or Witcher 3 look just too gamey while MGSV aims for photorealism. Before everyone jumps on my throat that doesn't mean the other games look bad i just prefer the look of the Fox Engine.

While videos don't do it justice we also have direct feed screenshots, but ok let's drop it.I don't think so, previewers said all the footage out there won't do this game justice, you gotta play it for yourself to see how amazing MGSV looks.
I give you that, the hair looks better in some other games but overall package i think MGSV takes the cake.
But let's just drop this here man, this isn't the right place to discuss this.
When he is part of the reason your company is where it is today, I would think he is worth the price. Konami should have looked at the sales numbers and seen which developers and their respective projects have been producing low sales and let them go instead to compensate for Kojima's pay.
This is why the gaming media wont ever get taken seriously. You can't just report rumor as fact and you most certainly can't take a reddit post or a post from here and make an article about it.
But Konami doesn't make only games. They are known for other things, I think Fitness is one of them and slot machines. Also we don't know what MGSV has cost them. Kojima didn't seem to care because he's not writing the checks. I'm honestly glad this whole thing didn't happen before the game was finished.
The person added: "At a team meeting, Mr Kojima explained that team have to be one and make a good game for fans."

This is a surprisingly loaded statement. They merged several of their teams to form KojiPro. Same month KojiPro was formed, was the same month Team Silent Hill went. They ended up creating a 2nd studio for him in LA. Their entire department downside, except for KojiPro which kept growing. All along MGS sales haven't been increasing, while the cost to make them and time it takes only gets longer.
Laughing at all the people that think Kojima is some god and doesn't deserve to have a budget like everything else on this planet. Get real.

I'd rather have a better videogame than a company making more money.
Yong da God coming thru
