Naming the new Sony portable "PS6 Handheld" is going make things difficult for no good reason, setting up unfair expectations for the poor thing.

Name it something else, it would do well as a portable that plays all PS4 games, PS5 low power mode games, ported down PS6 gen games, and every non Nintendo Switch 2 games up-ported. That seems pretty nice especially since Sony will price it at parity with Switch 2.

So what should it be named?

Something like that , I think they will leave the PSP line behind this is something new and they have the portal so will need something to keep it separate to the current slate and unique to the ps6.

PS6P would be my choice. Only one letter added, keeps the context of being a PS6 and visually still looks like PSP, while not looking too much like PSP6 - because the imbedded PS6 - to confuse things.

Nintendo learn with Switch and just called it 2, because there's no reason to go much further. The simpler way on names always wins

the official name will be PlayStation 6 Portable with 99% certainty.

so PS6P for short.

that is of course unless Sony decides to drop the numbers for next gen... which is unlikely, but could happen.

but whatever the home console will be called, the handheld will probably just have the same name with the word Portable added.

it's simple, it's easy to understand, and it goes back to their first handheld, which was a big success and the only handheld to ever be a real competitor to Nintendo.
