The time for the direct seems pretty late for Japan - 11pm. I wonder if that's an indication that it'll involve news which is more relevant to the West instead...

Hopefully it will give me reason not to throw my Wii U in the disposal. I only use it for surfing the web since Zombi U is about up.
Or Some more "mature" games with blood and violence?
...Or news to be revelaed in the Thursday issue of Famitsu!
Or nothing relevant at all ? I guess this might be a good time to announce the Tomb Raider port that's been rumored ?

This is about first party stuff. It'll have nothing to do with Famitsu.
Not getting roped in- I can only have my heart-broken once a year and I always try and leave that for E3.
Japanese tweet clarifies it'll be talking about first party games/services for Wii U.

Wii U DIRECT - NINTENDO GAMES TO AIR ON 23rd JANUARY
New Nintendo Direct looks at Nintendos software & services coming to Wii U
22nd January Nintendo today announced a new global edition of Nintendo Direct. The Wii U Direct Nintendo Games will be streamed from the Nintendo Direct website on 23rd January from 2pm GMT and sees Nintendo President Satoru Iwata take a look at future Wii U software and services from Nintendo.
The Wii U console launched in November last year and introduced the Wii U GamePad, a controller with a 6.2-inch touch screen that is redefining how people interact with their games, their entertainment and one another.
So Nintendo-published games and... *shudder*... services... probably TVii for EU?
