I don't get the obsession with the map in Rockstar games. It's a freaking map, who cares. And all of their games have these rumors. Where does it come from?

The blue stuff is water. Lots of it. Lake, river, etc.

Could be Resident Evil related too.
Could be Resident Evil related too.
I didn't check every name on the map but at least Blackwater was from RDR.

Does anyone have an uncle that works at R*?
Gut busted, knee slapped.Could be Resident Evil related too.
We may need to have a talk with these game developers. Or at least their art departments.

I REALLY hope this has a bunch of old timey cars to use like the one you ride in at the start of Redemption 1. How amazing would it make multiplayer hijinx to have those cars driving alongside players on horseback...
The potential for videos you could make in an RDR version of the Rockstar Editor is incredible.
That would be horrible. Westerns should not have cars. Hopefully the next Red Dead is a prequel.
Red Dead Redemption had a car and it fit the game just fine. Westerns can very much have cars and still be westerns. As long as they are decently rare occurrences then it would be fine. Hell, make them as rare as tanks and fighter jets are in GTA5 if that makes it any better for you.
So it matches just fine with the lore plus it offers tons of hilarious and thrilling possible gameplay segment possibilities. Why the hell would this be a bad thing again??
Redemption took place at the very end of the wild west. If the next one was any later, it wouldn't be a western anymore. The next one needs to be prequel or it will be too far past the wild west era, IMO.

The Western genre time period pretty much ends around the time that cars started getting big. As long as finding cars in the game is a decently rare occurrence then it would be fine. Anything from 1912 to 1916 would work.
There were cars, but they were a loooooooong way from common outside of heavily populated cities. Horse and buggy was still the majority by a long shot.
I wouldn't mind something between 1890 and 1910 though.
