I think that I executed this correctly.
G-freaken wiz!, How late to the damn party thread am I???

SSHDs usually have a single 8GB NAND chip. It's not a huge amount.
The higher the capacity, the more memory cells there are, thus the less individual cells are read/written within a given number of reads/writes to the mass storage device; thus the higher the overall device reliability.
It's still a concern with SSDs though, and a larger concern the smaller the device capacity. Magnetic platter HDDs are still significantly more reliable.
That's pretty much the boat that I'm in. I definitely won't have made my way through my PS4 backlog by then, but I'll buy in no questions asked if they offer BC. Given my decision to skip the PS4 Pro, it'll also feel like a substantial upgrade!
Wait so is the successor to PS4 not going to have native hardware backwards compatibility with PS4?
A machine that sacrifices hardware power for BC is a no-buy for me.Give me the best machine I can get for $399 or $499(pushing it) that still plays PS4 titles and I will buy day 1.

Why every one is so sure that PS5 will be backwards compatibility with PS4? I remember that people were sure PS4 would be backwards compatibility with PS3. Judging from PS4 i don't think Sony cares for backwards compatibility at all. I mean so many people own PS4 and instead of giving them the option to play PS1-2-3 classics you can only play some PS2 games.

Honestly, I would need to see the receiptsNobody thought this.

Don't think that is what the poster meant. I think it was just that no compromise of current gen stuff should be made for last gen stuff. Why would it have to sacrifice power?
Pretty sure no one thought this considering the cell processor was a known quantity then for being super obtuse.the reason people think that the ps5 will be bc is Xbox already said they were. PlayStation would get destroyed if it didn't have it. It would mean it would be easier for people to jump ship to Xbox than Xbox to PlayStation. It's the same thing that happened to Xbox this gen. You can't limit used games selling or trading games and then the other console not have that limitation. You will be blown out of the water. Why every one is so sure that PS5 will be backwards compatibility with PS4? I remember that people were sure PS4 would be backwards compatibility with PS3. Sony needs BC to make the transition from PS4 to PS5 as smooth as possible - both for devs and players who own a decent library of digitally purchased PS4 games (incl. PS+ games).
It would be the stupidest mistake ever to not offer BC, so there's a 60% chance of Sony not screwing this up.
Plus, imagine if ps5 only played ps5 games, but xbox 2 can play Xbox 2 games, one, 360, and og Xbox games, PLUS all your indie games. Games with gold would also be huge. They could offer you a like 7 or 8 games you could play on your Xbox 2, rather than PS plus which would be 7 or 8 games spread across 4 different systems.
Why would it have to sacrifice power?
I like how you added Indie games separately.
Not gonna happen.they might have another Pro for the hardcore audience.
They don't have an unlimited budget when it comes to designing a console. Resources spent on current gen compromises are resources they can't spend on next gen. There are much more important priorities.
An old ass jaguar won't be forward compatible with a next gen cpu fam.I hope it has forward compatibility too or devs will have to release PS4 and PS5 versions of everything for a couple years.
Cross-gen games will be a thing for the first 2-3 years (like on the PS4/ΧΒ1), but don't expect anything more than that.I hope it has forward compatibility too or devs will have to release PS4 and PS5 versions of everything for a couple years.
You'll be expecting to pay $800+ then. The GTX Titan XP is 12 teraflops and it's $1200.PS5 needs to be a bigger leap over PS4 Pro than PS4 Pro was over OG PS4.
Of course it will be, naturally, in terms of CPU (going from Jaguar to Zen will be massive) but I mean even in terms of GPU features & performance, RAM and memory bandwidth.
I'm expecting 15 TFlops.
Isn't that how it's been since forever? Plenty of games kept being released for both platforms after the 360/ps3 launched. Nothing broken about it, why change it.I hope it has forward compatibility too or devs will have to release PS4 and PS5 versions of everything for a couple years.

It will not be close to 15. Even in two years time.
Not gonna happen.
PS4 Pro support is already abysmal, so a Pro 2 will be even worse than that...
I think we may see $499 for the PS5. The industry probably won't be as slow as it was in 2013 so they won't need to make a big splash right out of the gate and I expect a longer cross gen period so they can still make money off of the PS4 for a while. I'm expecting a super Slim PS4 for cheap released near the PS5 launch window. There will be less of a clear cut, especially if there's full BC.I'm not sure we'll see a 12-16TF machine for $399, this thing needs to be strong enough to push PSVR2 while being affordable.
If both companies go with $499 and it's BC then I can see people being warm for that price point, funny thing about pricing is that we don't consider retailers cut.
From that $399 or whatever retailers probably are making $50 at the very least, they need to pay wages, storage and make a profit.

What would it take to run Horizon / Witcher 3 (big open world) at native 4K/60fps ? Is it douable by 2019 ?
If you are talking max settings and priced at $399, 2019, No. 2020, Probably.
Okay here is something of an example of what I would consider disappointing for PS5 specs:
CPU: 4 core / 8 thread mobile / low power Zen @ ~2.8 GHz
GPU AMD Navi based, 48 CUs (at whatever clock) 9 TFlops
Memory: 16 GB GDDR6 / 500 GB/s bandwidth
Dual Shock 5
$399 / November 2019
That might be fine for a "PS4 Super Pro" but Sony neds to make a more significant leap with anything that's called PlayStation 5, IMHO.

If half-steps really are the way forward from here it's going to make launches a lot less exciting.
You pretty much took the worst gpu to make a comparison with
Vega64 is 12.5tf and 500
Also AMD's and Nvidia's flops aren't the same.
