They look fine but I find weird that your character always wears a helmet , there are pictures where uses helmet but NPCS no , hope is becuase of the short media avaliable at this moment and that You can costumice your character and take off the helmet.Yeah, I really dig the art direction. Reminds me a lot of Interstellar.
If they sure up that framerate and tone down some of that ancient GeForce 3 bloom (or a mod to do so), this will be sublime looking.
I would assume you can take it off, much like all their games. They look fine but I find weird that your character always wears a helmet , there are pictures where uses helmet but NPCS no , hope is becuase of the short media avaliable at this moment and that You can costumice your character and take off the helmet.
It depends on the game and what is the focus.yes NPC interactions and world persistence are unbelievably important in an immersive open world rpg, much more important than they are given credit for by the casual gaming crowd who don't know any better.
HmmmmIt's hyperbole if I ever saw one, NMS is like unicorn puking all over screen
I agree, perfect way how to express how the game looksHmmmm
It's a bit... hyperbolic.I agree, perfect way how to express how the game looks
Sure, but hyperbole is spice of written wordIt's a bit... hyperbolic.
This is one of the things that really brought Elden Ring down for me. The world just felt completely static so it was hard to feel any sort of immersion. It depends on the game and what is the focus.
I love Elden Ring, it’s on my top 5 all time list, but the actual role-playing and NPC interactions are complete nonsense and no better than in a random RPG from the 80s.
Agreed, I’m so not a fan of the static NPCs teleporting from area to area just sitting at a new place doing absolutely nothing and having the most diffuse quest progressions I’ve ever experienced. FROM could’ve removed the NPCs all together as far as I’m concerned and just focused on the exploration, loot, stats, level ups, weapon upgrades and skills - which is actually very close to absolute perfection. This is one of the things that really brought Elden Ring down for me. The world just felt completely static so it was hard to feel any sort of immersion.
This was honestly my thought too, it looked like it had a filter over it that made it look artifically desaturated.I just wish everything wasn't so grey/green.
Like i said, i need to see the execution first.NMS doesnt have an indpet story/rpg elements that starfield will have. I know this is a troll but im going to give you a serious response.
Thats the definition of evolution. Evolution isn't a major change to what has been done. It's usual gradual. Revolution is something that is extremely new. Evolution is a leap forward on a pre-established concept.
Perfectly fine. But at the end of the day for the most part BGS games are a known entity. If you liked GOW you don’t really need to “see ragnarok” to know if it’s for you. BGS makes some of the most lively games. My primary argument are people acting like they’re a new studio with a ton to prove who hasn’t made games before. This one is different but for the most part we know what we getting. The extra stuff may or may not be for you.Like i said, i need to see the execution first.
Immersive/ large. It’s simple. If you don’t like it that’s fine. But you can’t convince others who like it’s strength is a weakness cause you don’t like it.Classic answer you get with Bethesda games, you ask what is good about it and the answer is that it's big... I'll never understand it.
The gameplay shown didn't stand out at all by itself.
Oblivion/Skyrim NPC dialogue is meme for a reason. I don’t care how complex a dialogue tree is if the NPC is robotically and incoherently spouting 5-10 phases over and over. That is anti-immersion. At least with Witcher and Zero Dawn there was thought given to the cinematic nature of the interaction - not to mention that fewer NPCs to interact with made each of the interactions more purposeful.LMAO how exactly are the NPC interactions in Forbidden West more "relevant and focused" than a Bethesda game, and then you go on to talk about the combat after praising the The Witcher 3. Yikes.
Has nothing to do with MS buying them btw, and yes NPC interactions and world persistence are unbelievably important in an immersive open world rpg, much more important than they are given credit for by the casual gaming crowd who don't know any better.
Aint nothing wrong with showing gameplay. Just be godam coherent about it. Take us through a solid side mission, in this way you can introduce some characters, show us some dialogue options to emphasis why silent protag is the right choice. Show us some shooting on the way to whatever mcguffin youre after. Prefarably end it with blasting from a solar system and doing that zoom out look 1000 planets omg hype moment.Whatever. I don’t think Starfield showed all that well, but the No Man’s Sky comparisons are just beyond lazy. Starfield is clearly going to be a story/mission heavy RPG. Just because they didn’t show that doesn’t mean it’s not still obviously true. I’ve played No Man’s Sky and still not totally sure what it is/what it is trying to be, but it’s not Starfield.
Adding in the word ugly further discredits any point they were trying to make. Try harder, PC Gamer…
On a broader point, I think MS mishandled the showing of both this and Forza - some weird decisions on what to include IMO. For the record I think both are going to be amazing. This is the downside of trying to show ‘more than just a trailer’ IMO - you end up blowing it and falling short of the hype a well put together trailer can deliver.
If anyone from MS reads this, I would urge them to stop listening so much to people on Reddit and GAF and get back to promos that get people excited, rather than pandering to the ‘must see gameplay’ crew. But I know that won’t happen.
Lol it's beyond just dialogue options, the NPC's in these games do not physically react to your existence in any way whatsoever. In Bethesda games, you can kill them, randomly go on quests with them, turn entire towns against you.Oblivion/Skyrim NPC dialogue is meme for a reason. I don’t care how complex a dialogue tree is if the NPC is robotically and incoherently spouting 5-10 phases over and over. That is anti-immersion. Witcher 3 combat, while imperfect, is far superior to the shit that Bethesda offers. Love seeing that Bethesda brought back the world class AI from Skyrim and Fallout. (if player discovered = true [then] run {full speed} at player [or] move two steps {left or right} [or]move two steps {forward or back} [then] attack; loop for 100)
Lots of ways to achieve immersion. I don’t have to cycle through dozens of dialogue selections with a local janitor.
I just don't agree I guess. Would rather poke my own eyes out than watch somebody else play a game, and I also don't want whole sections spoiled. Give me a good trailer any day.Aint nothing wrong with showing gameplay. Just be godam coherent about it. The crafting, ship building filler can be in your ign interview.
This is where sony wins when showcasing their games. Tlou 2 had a fucking killer gameplay reveal, the brutal kills ellie did was fucking fantastic. Gow 2018 reveal, new kratos and boi fighting an ogre. Horizon fw showing swimming, improve melee, fighting a mammoth and eye melting graphics.
The demo at least was 30 fps with a LOT of harsh dips, 60 fps seem out of reach with a game that`s supposedly in the polishing phase already. Please tell me you don't really know and they are not targeting 30 fps for Series X ...
Please ..?
IMO you don't play Dark Souls games for the story. I have no fucking idea why some people are impressed with their lore.It depends on the game and what is the focus.
I love Elden Ring, it’s on my top 5 all time list, but the actual role-playing and NPC interactions are complete nonsense and no better than in a random RPG from the 80s.
Yup, agreed. I’ve played about 175 hours of Elden Ring and I have no idea what the story is about, and I don’t care, I play it and love it because of the gameplay.IMO you don't play Dark Souls games for the story. I have no fucking idea why some people are impressed with their lore.
Bethesda games are different. But I hope Starfield will be more Morrowind than Fallout 4.
What you said is not Creatively bankruptCreatively bankrupt company. Sad thing is that I bought into the hype that this was going be big brain videogaming, Interstaller, Gravity, all that NASA talk, and all we're getting is No Man's Mass Effect.
PC Gamer has followed up this spicy take with some concern trolling and an attack on Starfield's 996 empty canvases.
I hope Starfield's four cities are more Vivec and less Diamond City
Bethesda's made some incredible urban environments, just not recently.www.pcgamer.comThere's no way all 1,000 explorable planets in Starfield are actually interesting
I'd rather play a Starfield with 10 planets than 1,000.www.pcgamer.com
Sir, sir, excuse me, sir! Do you know what month it is?So now for a game to be beautiful needs to have a rainbow no sense cartoonish colours?
