Well, you are wearing special glasses ;)
If you look at this content with non-VR display it looks like two identical videos side by side. The 3D you're thinking of superimposes the 2 images.

Similar concept, different execution

I think the FAQ is saying they do not support what you're talking about. I'm hoping they support the side by side stuff.

Side by side does work. Just put it in VR mode (option menu) and you have stereoscopic 3D with head tracking.
edit: I'm not so sure anymore. I wonder if i was not just looking at one side of a dual side video. I have to try that again when I get back home. Sorry if I spread misinformation.

I have a big problem with the headset: during VR or Cinema mode my view starts to slowly rotate to the right, so I have to gradually turn to the left. It's very noticeable, during a Rez level, it was almost 90° and on the long last level it was a full turn - I must have looked insane.

The camera is stable, it does not move.

I don't have any other tracking problems with controllers or head movements.

It appears in every game I tried (Rez, Thumper, Driveclub, Headmaster).

It can only be reset in the PS4 main menu, after closing the game. Without closing the game, it won't disappear, even if I reset the view with the Options button in the PS4 main menu.

Does anyone have a suggestion? Is it a hardware error? Should I try anything, maybe in the settings? (Everything's in default.)

My online order from Walmart was backordered but I got an online order from Best Buy today and will arrive on Saturday.

I have question, can I use the PSVR without the breakout box being hooked up to the TV? Reason being I have 4k HDR tv and I dont feel like changing the HDMI everytime I want to play PSVR. Also if the PSVR is not hooked up to the tv how can I get sound from the games?

I feel spoiled. So much new software to try out, I've only bought a fraction of it. Compared to the actual console release this launch is astoundingly great on the software front.

Had a play with the demo disc and Batman. Man this thing is sooo cool, no tracking issues for me at all. Well worth the cost

The Playroom platformer is really cool. I want a full game of it

watching Eurogamer live stream confirms the controller tracking is pretty dogshit as expected being 1 big blob of light for each, but at least the it seems to be able to track the headset ok

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but you don't have to change cables after installing the PSVR. If you don't turn on the headset, you play on the TV.

The sound is coming from the earphone they give with the PSVR (you can use any other headset of course).

More thoughts now that I have slept on it and have a keyboard instead of a phone -

- Setup wasn't too bad but I was having problems using my HDMI audio splitter between my PS4 and processing unit. In this configuration in VR games I had a "snowy" background, especially noticable when the background was dark. Also would get a warning pop up when starting games to reconnect the HDMI cable. Taking the splitter out and only using the HDMI cables that came with the PS4 solved this. I guess this was due to the splitter or the cheapo Amazon cable I had. Either way, problem solved and if I put my splitter back in place it will be between the processing unit and TV, I think that will work better.
- The headset itself, or rather the band that wraps around your head has a really strong elasticity on mine. It feels more than tight on my head, even before I turn the knob in the back. This kinda makes it difficult to put on, but something I will get better at over time or hopefully it will loosen up. Maybe my head is just huge or something.
- No issues wearing it with my glasses. They fit comfortably and even with the room lights on I have very little light leaking in. Turning down the lights (which I usually do anyway) makes it completely dark in the headset.
- I'm actually pretty impressed by the IQ to be honest. From the way people were talking I was expecting PS1 or older level pixels but really looks nice to me. Some of the periphery/far away stuff is a little soft but that could very well just be my shitty vision. In game when you are moving around I don't notice it.
- Similarly, Cinematic mode was way better than expected. Novelty might wear off but I had a blast using the largest size and watching Perfume music videos on youtube, random Netflix stuff, and playing Project Diva on a huge screen was a ton of fun. Can't wait to try out other games.
- I played demos of Rez, Battlezone, Driveclub and Playroom VR and Summer Lesson. I didn't get sick from any of them. As previously posted I'm really surprised at how well the 3d platformer in Playroom was. I really hope more games come around like this. Game specific impressions I have posted elsewhere.
- I was wanting to play Super Hyper Cube to try but apparently the icon on the demo disc is just an ad? It wouldn't let me try it.
- Tracking wise, if you sit still and concentrate on it the screen can move a tiny bit. It comes and goes but never got to the point of me being sick and again once you get in a game and start moving around you don't notice. I think this could probably be improved in software by perhaps making a slightly larger dead zone or something, but in any case it isn't really a issue for me. No large drifts seen.
- The 3d audio was really impressive. Particularly hearing enemies in Battlezone, the wind/cicadas outside the window in Summer Lesson, and even in Cinematic mode it follows the screen well. Neat.

All in all I am extremely happy with my purchase and really look forward to what comes down the pipe. I really hope "tacked-on-vr" becomes a thing, as even just a little experience here and there I think has a lot of value in otherwise not VR games. And at the top of my list is hopefully there is a Gundam or otherwise pilotable mech combat game in the future. It would be so amazing in VR and solve a ton of control problems that typically plague those games with a pad.

I don't have it, I only watched the GB stream, but that was one of the issues they had. One temporary fix is to over correct when resetting the view. Instead of facing straight ahead, face 90 degrees to the right and then hit reset. This will cancel out the 90 degree to the left drift, and when you move your head back to centre it will work.

Doubt this will last though so you'll then need to do a hard reset.

You want a shot at the champ? [NG gif winner July 23]
Play a few games last night when everybody went to sleep.
  1. RIGS is amazing, it felt the same fun I have when playing the Rocket League for the first time.
  1. Valkyrie Eve, The graphic and song effect is.. just wow
  1. Ocean Descent, I am submerge in it, just looking around and in constant awe..the music is top notch.
  1. Here they Lie, it was so grainy and blurry and my flash light went all over the place(maybe i'm using the controller). It's okay with a little jump here and there...
And ends up watching a whole Episode of Westworld with Plex media player, felt like sitting in a theater with no annoying people around you. Very happy with the purchase...

I wish the people streaming would all just put themselves in the Virtual Reality channel instead of changing it for each specific game. Finding VR streamers is such a pain when they don't do that.

There is a Summer Lesson demo?

Idk if it's different for the full game but the demo forces you to stand. And at the distance where they want you to stand the tracking gets inaccurate and that introduces some swimming which makes you feel like you're about to fall over. If you walk forward it becomes stable but then you don't stand in correct spot for all the action.

This was my experience at least.

Bummer. Is there a demo for it on the store already?

The bolded shouldn't happen though right? This seems like a hardware issue (like a defective unit), not something that everyone experiences. This sounds like a lite version of the GB swimminess

Quick review from someone who has an Oculus DK2.

1. Screen door is almost non-existent. You can just about see a mesh on a black screen. It's pretty awesome.
2. Black level are great. I heard folks complain about grey blacks but not on my unit.
3. Tracking is very good. The headset tracks very well and it's very smooth.
4. Comfort and fit is exceptional. After a while you don't even feel like you have it on.
5. It's really great to be able to control the whole PS4 from the headset. That makes a huge difference.

All in all it's a amazing headset. Much better then I thought it would be. I'm so pleased I went for this and not a Rift.

Checked Amazon UK on Monday, and it said October 13th. Checked yesterday and it said October 30th. Now today it's saying November 14th. That's what I get for being on the fence.

My headset is on a UPS truck somewhere, I got Rez, Superhypercube, and Thumper downloaded, and I have RIGS, Battlezone, and DCVR waiting for me at the Best Buy online pick up desk. I'm pretty fucking ready.

Crazy that this isn't available at launch, but I wonder what kind of media this will support. Like, will this work in conjunction with the browser?

It's the media player app, so no browser support presumably.

The update was pushed to me last night (east coast NA).

Also, for those discussing... 360 degree video does not necessarily mean 3D. 360 degree video is flat but you can look around. 3D is what we want / are wondering about.

3D for the 360 videos is not something worth having from what I've seen on the Oculus set. The 3D is "unnatural" and very fixed, nowhere near as good as in a game where it feels natural.

I have this too and am trying to nail down the cause, its a slow constant rotational drift to the right.

In testing it seems to happen worse if you're not in the center of the camera. How far away from the camera are you? I've not yet tested being closer and I'm at the max of the play volume (it's where my couch is located..makes it hard to change)

These reports are driving me crazy lol.

Just want to know if this is a hardware issue, that can be fixed with a return, or something more specific/unique to a user's circumstance, like a set up/lighting issue.

I also see this and I'm off-center from the camera by a slight bit. Seems like a software tracking bug so I expect a fix forthcoming for this. Tried turning off the TV and lights in the room?

Even in Ocean Descent? It stuck out a mile for me. At first I thought it was some kind of sediment in the water but then I realised what it really was.

Did anyone try the Blood Ties DLC for Rise of the Tombraider? I tried to launch it but I'm not seeing the 'Croft Manor' option on the title screen. How is it unlocked?

My copy of Rush of Blood won't deliver until Monday for some reason :( thinking of cancelling and just picking it up from Bestbuy, the $5 difference is prob worth it

Probably, because unlike the console launch, this launch actually gives us new ways to interact with games. Alone, the PS4 and PS4Pro are really just souped-up PS3's as far as what games are possible.

So far I'm loving it, or would be if I could get the kids to piss off to bed and let me play. the weirdest moment was the EVE Valkyrie demo, looking down and seeing boobs, I actually went to feel them, the sad part is at 45 years old and male they were very close to being there.... Haven't played Arkham yet but my daughter is a huge Batman fan and she loved it. My 10 year old son just loved playing everything via the headset, even old crap that has no VR. It would be nice if they introduced enviroments for non VR content, like VR cinema's or living room with big TV etc. Would mean plex, Netflix, TV/movie content etc could be used in more immersive ways. You do notice the quality drop from 1080p to VR, this has probably made me more interested in the PS4 pro if it gives a better experience.

Don't buy Gunjack, it's fun for about 5 mins and I got 3 stars instantly on the 4 missions I did.

All in all it's great at showing the possibilities, and it will get better over time. The wires are a pain in the arse though.

Yes, I've tried changing lighting conditions, no change. I did notice there's a reflection of the headset viewable a nearby window that may be contributing. I agree though, seems like a software bug.

Also found on the prior page someone else with this issue. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=220050034#post220050034
I have the same pulsing GB had they describe too, though it's not making me ill at all.
I'm definitely ad the same fringe depth as GB so most likely stressing the camera tracking really hard.

The drift wouldn't be so bad if the hold start to reset function actually re-set the head position in all games.

Has anyone tried the Godzilla experience from the Japanese store? Wasn't that supposed to be available today?
Tried it and was disappointed. It's just watching Godzilla walk slowly and roar at your direction
You don't even get crushed by it, a rock does the job instead

Has anyone got the retail version of Eve? i absolutely loved the demo, i want to play more so badly but ive heard its a really stripped back experience?

I bought a code for EVE from someone in Buy/Sell/Trade for $30, at that price seemed like a no-brainer. Head over and score one for yourself. :)

Just picked up my pre-ordered core unit from Gamestop but I'm working from home today so I'll have to wait until lunch time to mess with it.

I got physical copies of RIGS and Battlezone with the unit but have also been downloading several digital games in anticipation of the release, e.g. Eve, Rush of Blood, Playroom, and Driveclub.

Having a VR party this coming Monday. When the Gamestop employee asked me about insurance on the PSVR, I thought about a room full of people who had been drinking....and gave in and got the insurance. Don't usually do that...but he said it covered anything...even scratches. Anyone else opt for insurance on this new tech?

If it were more significant I would be inclined to agree, but what I see feels more like regular old Move tiny twitching. It is really minor to me, and I can't imagine this would be enough to cause the reaction GB had. To me it seems more a product of not being able to track depth well using a single camera, you would need more of a lighthouse type of setup with cameras/sensors both front/back to truely eliminate it from happening.

Ok I picked mine up,,,, set it up, put on playroom.

Grinning like a Cheshire Cat!

Had a quick go on a couple of demos but have to pick littleun up from school.

Image is more blurry than I thought it would be on some games, but the immersion is definitely there, on the platformer I thought I was gonna hit my head and ducked out the way lol.

Recommend running through advanced setup, and getting your focal length settings done.
