I personally don't treat it like a game; I treat it like an exercise app (emphasis on the "GO" part) that has gamey elements and encourages social interaction. Met and made friends with a good 50 people as a result, and lost 15kg and am the healthiest I've EVER been.
When you take advantage of what the app offers, it's immensely exhilarating and rewarding. If you treat it like a mobile game, you'll get bored.
