I just started French 1103 so I'm no expert, but shouldn't you have said... 'Je ne sais pas quatorze.'? ie: I am not 14. You used the negation que (ne) but forgot the actual 'not' word (pas).

Actually, that would be "I do not know 14".

"Je ne suis pas quatorze" would be "I am not 14"

Je suis = I know

If I recall correctly, age is expressed with "avoir" and not "être" in French, you "have" the years, you "aren't" them..

In french, we aren't our age, but we have our age (it's weird, but it's even weirder saying that you "are" a certain age in french). So "Je ne suis pas quartoze" isn't the right way of saying that you aren't fourteen [years old]. The right way would be:

"Je n'ai pas quatorze ans" (you have to say "ans" for "years old", otherwise it could mean that you don't have fourteen cars, shirts, arms or baseballs...)

You could always said "Je ne suis pas agé de quatorze ans" which would literally be translated has "I am not aged of fourteen years" or "I am not fourteen years old" but it's not as fast as saying "Je n'ai pas quatorze ans" and it's quite uncommon...

Third worst? I guess it's all a matter of opinion, but I can think of worse places (in other states) I could be than Muncie, which is probably rather low on the Indiana ladder. And that's a sad, scary truth. At least we get most of the movies on time, have decent concerts within driving distance and get games the day they're supposed to come out.

Then again, Muncie's a college town. College towns tend to be non-indicative of entire states... I'm living in Plainfield (catchy name, right), which is probably the epicenter of the recent trend of suburban sprawl. All it is is chain restaurants and sub-divisions, punctuated by a Blockbuster and a generic Regal Cinemas. The only places to go to get not just the major releases are Key Cinemas, 30 minutes away, and AMC Castleton Arts 3, 50 minutes. Most good concerts don't swing through Indiana (occasionally one show at the Emerson or the Vogue), as Chicago and Cincinnati are just stone's throws away.

Also, being the birthplace of the KKK doesn't lay a good image on our fair state. Again, perhaps it's my side of town, but I've not been to a place that is so highly prejudiced against other races.

In summation, you're right, it's all a matter of opinion, a point-of-view. And while you're looking at what could be considered the tits, I'm stuck looking straight up the ass.
