I really doubt the people in the picture you posted were smiling because something funny was said or because they were full of glee. I'm sure they were smiling for the same reason I was... because somebody was pointing a camera at them.

Either something elicits a smile or they force it. When elicited, genuine; not a deliberate smile. When forced (ie, there's a camera pointed at me. better put on a smile.), fake.
