All great ppl.
This:
Not a real solution to what that poster is talking about.
I mean, it's a solution sometimes, but not all the time. Sometimes I just want to pick up the game and play a little bit. I can't do that if I have to try and coordinate with people on a message board... especially since I've lurked there a bit and haven't really seen someone at level 5 or 6 looking for people to group with. Not saying no one would, it's just rare enough that I don't think it would fit my purpose.
Destiny should be compared to games like Diablo 3 and Borderlands. I.e games that have limited amount of PVE content, and in which the endgame revolves around replaying that limited amount of content in order to find better loot.
Destiny is fantastic when played with other people. If you just play the game alone because of the PVE content it quickly turns into a pointless grind. Although it is lot of fun to solo missions that would normally require at least three people to complete.
I can't speak for Borderlands' social tools, but comparing it to Diablo 3 is goddamned laughable. In Diablo 3 I could play with a group of people at any time. I could play with friends I knew in real life if they were on and I coordinated, I could play with people from here on Neogaf, but most importantly I could just fucking play with random people. I didn't
have to do anything crazy or open my browser to get someone to group. I just
played, whether it was 9PM at night or I happened to wake up at 4AM. I could get a group.
Perhaps Destiny worked well right when it came out, but I'm telling you now as a newb it sucks. There's no way to talk to people in the hub (that I know of), and even if I could, they're all level 31... all of them! I've only ran into one person ever that was near my level. Why exactly aren't they populating my instanced hub with people around my level? Why isn't there some sort of automated group finding? I just don't get it. You're right, the game sucks to try and play solo. Diablo 3 did, too, but they actually gave you tools.
I'd ask them why it's so goddamned hard to implement this stuff, especially if they and everyone else keeps saying it's such a social game... but then I remember to get any of the story you have to open your goddamned browser instead of seeing things in game....
