You people deserve this.
Being let down continuosly, I mean.
Why would the publisher who owns the IP pay for a game to be translated when they have excess money and the game is already made?
Simple. Because Yakuza is better and more financially viable than Shenmue. And it's not like Yakuza blows up the charts or anything as it is.
Because from what I played of both series, it's just a better game of the same nature.

So your telling me that Nintendo will fund a game that bomb on a console that bomb that would be one of the most expensive games Nintendo had every made that only hardest of core would care for?Just waiting for the heads to explode on this one.
Shenmue in any form would be great. I'm thinking it'll be Nintendo on this one. Bayonetta revival wasn't solely a financial thing, could see them taking a chance on Shenmue for the hardcore crowd.
You know what else is already made? Shenmue 1 and 2.
And it's not like the translation process that Yakuza 5 has to go through is going to be cheap either.
Lol, how is Yakuza more financially viable when every entry has flopped in the West? We had to beg Sony in order to make a localisation happen. At least the first Shenmue managed to sell over a million copies, not to mention that it's been so long since a Shenmue game has come out that it's completely up in the air how it would fare commercially. One thing that's undeniable is that it's gained an almost mythical status in the past decade, and that's made people stand up and notice it. A remastered collection would convince these people to see what the fuss is all about.
Well sure, that's your opinion. Just how it's the opinion of many that Shenmue is a better series than Yakuza.
And of the same nature? Eh. They have some similarities, but in other ways they're both completely different.
Shenmue 1 sold 1.2 million copies. The reason it was unsuccessful is because of Sega.

Lets throw Half Life 3 into the mix as well. The E3 to end all E3s. Where everything big had a 3.
I want a continuation not an end! At least not super abruptly anyways. These games are fun ta play so I'd at least want 2 more of 'em. Ending it on the 3rd would just be so underwhelming! We just want a fucking ending to the story... Don't blame us!
the budget of shenmue was for the whole series as a project. sega were to milk 4-5-6+ games out of the initial investment. The main reason it was unsuccessful is because of it's extraordinary huge budget for the time. Sega sold this at a loss.
Mythical status on neogaf. That'll account for about 5k sales. Shenmue would bomb 10x worse than any yakuza entry.

The years late xbox port of Shenmue 2 sold like 5 times more than the best selling Yakuza NPD. And the series did respectively in Japan as well despite the Dreamcast always selling like shit there.
What?! Shenmue is talked about all the time outside of Neogaf. And it's the most requested game on #BuildingTheList no matter which way you slice it, which last time I checked exists outside of this site. I'd say it attracts more attention that Yakuza does, despite being so much older.
And if it bombs worse than Yakuza then so what? I'd rather a collection come out than not come out at all so I can at least see for myself how well it does.
The big crunch will happen and the universe will implode. If both Shenmue 3 and TLG will be at E3 I think Gaf will explode
Please no. It will flop beyond recognition.
That was good. But at this time, hoping for Shenmue 3 is like hoping Superman is real. Anyone know a way of going to an alternate reality where Shenmue 3 does exist? And for the fans of the TLG that it is also out and received 10's from every review site on the planet?
