Isn't that just a 3DS?
Other than processing power, ram, screen resolution, multitouch, HD rumble, dual analog, single screen, etc?
Isn't the PS4 just a PS1?
Isn't that just a 3DS?
Am I the only one to think that any revision means that it'd only get bigger?
Its bound to happen, and with a 16nm pascal chip with better battery life. Hell its far more likely than a 4k scd.
Am I missing something regarding the n3DS price? Since when is it $199? It launched at $170 and I thought it stayed there, with Nintendo also selling a $150 game bundle in the past year.
you wouldn't be able to play games that heavily rely on the Joy-Con motion controls like 1-2 Switch.
Somehow I don't think that will be an issue for people interested in better portability. To me, the detachable joycons are not a positive or something that entices me to buy a Switch. Not only would the screen be too small to enjoy certain big HD games but you wouldn't be able to play games that heavily rely on the Joy-Con motion controls like 1-2 Switch.
I see no point in making a handheld. The Switch covers two markets very well, and makes off options to these markets to boot (docked VS undocked). Making a handheld would be redundant, confusing (no matter the name), and would cannibalize each others sales. Sure they could co-exists, and Nintendo will benefit monetarily, but perception is everything. For instance, despite the 3DS doing well for Nintendo's bank account, the industry only looked at the Wii U's sales numbers to make a declaration. If two handheld markets cannibalize each others sales, both ending up being mediocre, that's all that people will focus on thus another doomed generation.
I say just focus on the Switch. Sony and Microsoft have only one machine, no reason for Nintendo not to follow suit...good news is, it versatile.
The Joy-Cons and the screen size are important to me in enjoying a portable console. The many ways you can use the Joy-Cons are what sold me on the machine. There is no way I'll play Zelda or Mario or ARMS on that tiny screen. And nothing of value would be lost.
I would love to have a mini version of the switch that isnt as bulky and clunky as the current model in handheld mode
Agreed. A clamshell design with detachable joy-cons seems like the best solution to me. You still have the full package, only in a more compact and portable format. This would be the more elegant solution so far; they need to keep the detachable joy-cons so the mini is compatible with all the back catalogue of the console without issues (and mantain the attractive 2-players out of the box).

That's probably not happening anytime soon. Nvidia hasn't even released a successor to the X1 yet.
here i am still waiting for the Switch XL rumor
It says in the article it's for kids who can't hold the Switch.
Do you actually detach use and the joy cons in portable mode? To me they are the worst part of the system. They are flimsy, absurdly small, and add nothing to my experience.
I correctly predicted that bigger screens are something that consumers are have accepted. I don't see a mini being viable. The Switch is the perfect size.
Like I said in the other thread, calling it a "Switch Mini" and then selling it as a standalone handheld SKU with no dock will only cause confusion.
"Wait, why can't I plug this into my TV? Why the fuck is it called a Switch if it can't be switched?"
Wait this doesn't make sense, how are you not forcing people to buy a separate dock when you're proposing a SKU with no dock? Or are you assuming this is for people who already have the Switch? I'm confused at which people you're trying to target.

It is already a portable. It doesn't need a smaller version that doesn't even follow the main reason behind it being called Switch. Hell this even does away with some of what is most likely making Nintendo a lot of money, which is the accessories.
It is the same size as the Gamepad, but I want a Switch with no bezels and maybe 7' inch screen.I actually want a Switch with the same screen size as the Wii U GamePad. I tried it out on LA and thought it was too tiny for an open world game BotW.
But a 4" Switch that fits in my pocket for Pokemon and Mario Oddysey? I don't know what I want anymore!
The mini isn't for you.Not only would the screen be too small to enjoy certain big HD games but you wouldn't be able to play games that heavily rely on the Joy-Con motion controls like 1-2 Switch.
Tv out exists I certain phones now.
A switch mini can integrate the ports needed.

It will still be able to switch. Nintendo will stay sell docks separately. A disclaimer in the box will say "Dock sold separately"
I think it's an inevitable move as the look to cut costs.
Get it to $100 asap.
Joke post?
Why sell for 100 when you can sell them for 300 as fast as you can build them?
