But I like this tweet more.I wouldn't get your hopes up. Might just be a misunderstood/mistyped tweet.
Remember how Rashid was supposed to be a "returning character" according to one tweet?

That wouldn't surprise me.I wouldn't get your hopes up. Might just be a misunderstood/mistyped tweet.

No blanka, dhalsim or feilong? Where did my street fighter go? lol
I need!!

Eh, I could do without a majority of them. The only required ones to me are Ryu, Chun-Li, & Ken. I could live without the others, though I wouldn't be opposed to Cammy or Bison if it were my call.Do you need all the Turbo cast in there for it to be a SF game?
I kinda agree. I am of the opinion that the 8 world warriors and the 4 shadowloo bosses should be in every SF.

I like the SF4 a lot. You have your basic 12 characters (Cammy not included in that btw) that define the game and diversify it in terms of gameplay variety, you add 4 new characters, and 8 unique picks that are either fan favorites or haven't appeared in a while. The last 1 is the boss.
Imo, every SF should be announced with the 12 as the staple.
If they revamp Blanka,Honda and Rogs moveset then yea. Right now these 3 are kinda bland and not unique enough.
But having all 12 of them would get in the way of letting fresh new characters in, it gets stale after a while. Like I said, Ryu, Chun-Li, & Ken are the three main faces of Street Fighter. They're basically mascots at this point, which isn't something that I could say for the rest of the SFII crew. Just have those 3 & go crazy with newcomers that are new takes on classic gameplay styles & I'm happy. SFIII:NG almost achieved this, but they were missing Chun-Li. But overall, you gotta have some fresh blood every once in a while. Now that I think about, I wish that there were more newcomers in SFV.I like the SF4 model a lot. Imo, every SF should be announced with the original 12 guaranteed to be in. It's that it's waaaay easier to market the product for the masses when you plaster Ryu, Ken, Gief, Sagat, Bison etc all over the promotions.
Not a whole lot. One tweet mentioned 16 characters plus 2 veterans & 1 newcomer. While it could just be a mistake like that one guy who thought the Rashid reveal was for a veteran, it could mean that we're gonna get 1 newcomer as a boss & 2 veterans as bosses.Did I miss anything?

The Alpha characters are newbies to a decent chunk of the audience, any more would start encroaching on SF3 territory. But having all 12 of them would get in the way of letting fresh new characters in, it gets stale after a while. Exactly, bring on more newcomers. Sure, keep 5 or so of the World Warriors (Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Cammy, & M. Bison) with Akuma as DLC, but go crazy with the rest. The Alpha characters are newbies to a decent chunk of the audience, any more would start encroaching on SF3 territory.

What masses? SF4 is the new SF2. Many of today's players never even touched SF2, so that roster is no longer as relevant. The SF4 one is. And, SF4 contained MUCH more than the original 12.
You saw the reaction to Gief. You saw the reaction Vega.
Compare those reactions to Mika, Karin, Laura, and Rashid.
Imagine if the final spots go to E. Honda and Balrog. Do you REALLY think that's doing the game any favors in the marketing department? Do you REALLY think Honda and Rog's rusty old "World Warrior" badges are going to carry the same weight in 2015 as they did in 1991? Just because people can recognize Dhalsim doesn't mean they will drop dollars to play the game for him.
Don't worry. It'll probably be Balrog and Sagat as the two veteran bosses. Not a whole lot. One tweet mentioned 16 characters plus 2 veterans & 1 newcomer. Zangief was honestly underwhelming (he doesn't even have his Green Hand). At least Vega had the perk of no longer being a charge character, but even I forget that he's in the game from time-to-time.But Capcom can do so much with just these 12 characters. Look how awesome all Ryu, Chun, Dictator, Ken, Claw and Gief look and play in this game. And even if that's not enough, they still have another 13 characters to play around with.
No joke, I would gladly pay full price for SFV if it just had the original cast, (Provided they are of the same caliber of the current cast).

A mistranslation people are taking to the next level.
Because when it comes to a certain veteran, people expect that veteran to play a particular way. Sure, there's room for the developers to deviate a bit, but they have to at least stay within the ballpark (Charlie & Vega to an extent are probably the exceptions, but we haven't seen Charlie in a while). With newcomers, the developers have that chance to go out there & do something completely different. Why do newcomers matter that much when old characters are getting drastic changes? I think people are going too far with the appearance of the game and not how it actually plays.

Ironically, that's exactly how you get the "this looks just like Street Fighter 4" crap from passersby.
I still dont see the problem with the roster.
Its 50% Old and 50% New. Thats pretty similar to the Alpha series , and waay better than SF4 ( 12 returning , 4 new )
Are you guys suggesting the Roster be something like Ryu/Ken/Chun + All new + Non-SF4 characters? There is no way in hell Capcom would take that chance. 3S had that kind of roster.
That has nothing to do with it.MK carry over the core characters every game. Did you see them throwing away everyone except Scorpion/Subzero for MK X?
All the MK1/2 characters are in.
Why isnt everyone complaining about Reptile,Jax,LiuKang,Raiden,Cage,Sonya..returning again. And yea they killed Liu Kang once , woopdy doo. Guile wasn't in Alpha until 3.
There's only 4 newcomers
Or get rid of 4 of the SFII veterans & make room for newcomers. So get rid of the Alpha characters and add 4 newcomers? Thats cool too. Though I dont think thats what people here are complaining about.
I am trying to get what exactly is this "Dream SF V Roster" people want from just 16 characters. Coz I am pretty sure , they will find out that a lot of people hate it. Even more than the current roster.
Momochi finally streaming http://www.twitch.tv/momochoco

Because they look different, I'd assume. I don't play Mortal Kombat, but they do adjust character designs quite frequently.
On a related note, Chun Li felt like a total afterthought in SF4 to me. When I think SF4, I don't think Chun Li at all.
that's not Zangief
Or get rid of 4 of the SFII veterans & make room for newcomers.
Lol that's how I feel. I'd take that or give the 3s characters a chance again or the ex series. I'd like to see guys like oro, q, skullomania, urien mixed with alpha guys / sf2 guys
Or get rid of 4 of the SFII veterans & make room for newcomers.
Seeing zangeif get revealed was the most boring reveal for me. I'm
Not saying totally exclude him but he should have had a makeover like birdie.
I am with you on the redesign part . which is why am surprised people are Hating on Vega and Gief instead of Cammy.
Or get rid of 4 of the SFII veterans & make room for newcomers.
Vega got changed quite a bit , didn't seem to help him a lot.
I think it's only because they got Cammy and Ryu out of the way first. Personally, I complained a bit about both of them, but I accept that Ryu is supposed to be Mr Reliable. Chun Li was a bigger disappointment for me than Cammy, because they showed her possible redesigns and they all looked better than her classic look (which should have been DLC imo).
Had Gief/Vega been shown (as is) back then, and Cammy and Chun were revealed now, I'm fairly confident we (or at least I) would be saying they were weak reveals. Idk how Cammy came to be considered so core that they give her the least amount of changes out of the whole roster, but Capcom gonna Capcom.
Lol, I wish. But, muh nostalgia wins every time. I can't tell you how many people I saw saying that they "finally had a reason to buy SFV" when Gief got announced. Capcom doesn't want to kneecap their sales for the sake of an interesting roster.
Nexeon, you are making assumptions again. No for the exact reason that you mentioned, it wasn't on Twitter. Zangief is the first true example of Ono bucking the Twitter-teasing trend.
Like I said earlier, it wasn't an assumption if it occurred multiple times. It's just that Zangief bucked the trend that was recurring for 4 months until now.Nexeon, you are making assumptions again.

Yea they should have pulled an MK X and shown SF V first with a bunhc of characters like Ryu/Chun/Cammy/Bison/Gief/Vega.
Then throw in a Ken and Nash reveal at E3 ( would have been hella hype ). Followed by the other new comers one by one.
