Only game I bought was Mario Kart World but with Star Fox on the horizon I'm gonna grab that when it comes out. Backwards compatibility was the real seller for me. I'm giving year one a B only because cause I really want to see more upgrade.
Backward compatibility is its best feature yet and it makes this console my favorite Nintendo console. I think it might become my favorite console . It's just such a nice gaming device.
DK Bananza, MK World, Resident Evil Requiem, Indiana Jones, Pragmata, and Cyberpunk 2077 are great, and I also quite enjoyed the likes of Fast Fusion, Kirby Air Riders, Hades II, Hyrule Warriors, etc.
I am sitting on a B-, however I really haven't bought many Switch 2 games. Like I only have MKW, Pokopia, Prime 4 and both Zelda upgrades. I am waiting for Fire Emblem.
Since I use my Switch 2 primarily as a handheld, that boost mode update was my highlight so far. Playing most Switch 1 games I have in full 1080p on the go has been great!
It's not that bad but neither that spectacular. B+ or A-.
By the way, bought an open copy of FF7 Rebirth today for 25+shipping, apparently TCG collectors are scalping the copies to pick up the limited Magic: The Gathering card and quickly sell the game for 25-30 bucks.
Oh wow, it's been a year already?
Walmart.com still never charged me for my Switch 2 that I preordered from them. I guess I'm in the clear now?
(I did call several times and try to explain but they kept telling me that they already had their money lol)
Been OK. Probably should have rated them lower because a new system without a Mario tease 1 year in is some fucking bullshit, but its a good system and the kids love it.
Voted B. Really enjoyed DK Banaza, as well as Metroid Prime 4. Still have a bunch of other games to catch up on, and the rest of this year is going to be I think.
it's a worse first year than the Switch 1 that is for sure. because DK Bananza was great, but it is no Mario Odyssey. and then there was Zelda of course, and no game can compare to that so far.
I think the first year of the Switch 1 being so crazy good, made this one seem worse in comparison than it really is. because the Switch 1 had an unusually strong first year, while the Switch 2 only had a decent one.
Pokopia and Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment and Pokemon Legends ZA alone make it a pretty good year, but I think the best is yet to come, so I guess I'd give it a B.
It's a D from me, Mario Kart World was good for a few days, but ultimately it's not as good as MK8, DK Bananza was good but overstayed it's welcome a bit, by the time i got deep into it i was deeply bored by the gameplay, Wonder should have probably been kept back for a Switch 2 launch game if i'm honest, it would have really changed the opinion of the Switch 2's first year if we'd played that for the first time on the Switch 2.
FC26 and Madden being 30fps is unacceptable for me, not on Nintendo, it's on EA but Nintendo should have stepped in and said the ports need to be of higher quality.
Solid B for me. I'm actually surprised at how much it reinvigorated my interest in my Switch library (ESPECIALLY after boost mode). The Switch 2 is Big Bro Switch that is going to be getting 3rd party support for at least five more years. It's just warming up.
It was solid. Probably a B for me.
Not as good as the first Switch's launch window. But I got more out of it than the ps5's or Series X's launch windows.
The 3rd party support is unparalleled. I'm playing FF7 Rebirth, RE9 and Indiana Jones, three current gen exclusives (not available on PS4), in the palm of my hands, and they all look and run great. For a 1st year, for Nintendo, it's been an A.
I guess we can fully compare the first year output now.
There's been a lot of software released but DK Bananza has been the main highlight for me. Beyond that I've found most new entries somewhat disappointing or underwhelming.
Probably a C for me. The Switch (1)'s first year was a lot better imo, if only because of Mario Odyssey and BotW.
