The Official NeoGAF "Introduce Yourself" Thread

Hi there!

I'm an aspiring game developer currently known for writing most of the code of TES3MP, a project adding fully playable multiplayer to OpenMW (an engine recreation of Morrowind).

One of my side projects — and the main reason why I've joined — is a campaign of exoneration for Chris Avellone, my favorite game writer.

Worthy missions on both fronts. Welcome to NeoGAF, David.

Hi All. I have finally joined after lurking for an eternity. I live in Sydney, Australia and I am here for the gaming discussion, retro, current and future. I have been a gamer since Pong with paddles on a black and white television. That ages me a little.

Hello peeps, long time gamer since the 8 bit days. Still game but the AAA space is a hot mess of political agenda driven ideoligies...i just wanna have fun gameplay!. Look forward to posting on this site.

Good time, everybody! I am a game developer. Along with my husband, we are developing an indie adventure quest KAPIA.

We've been in development for 4 years and now our game is heading for the Kickstarter, so I started posting more often on Reddit and someone recommended joining your resource, especially Adventure Game thread.
I registered and headed straight there, was reminded of an introduction, turned around and here I am making this post. XD
If any of you have any questions about asset creation, or game development in general, please don't hesitate to ask.
My name is Anna and it is very nice meeting you.

Hi all, longtime lurker here.

I had a look at the OP and FAQs and couldn't find it, but how do we vote in polls? There's a few threads I'd like to vote on (Game of the Generation); I can see the polls and their results but can't see any way to vote on them.

Hi members, both new and old. ;)

We've set this imaginatively titled thread up as a friendly, welcoming space for people to just say "Hi" and maybe share a few words about themselves. This was my introduction from the thread we created for staff members, it doesn't need to be anything of that size though, anything would be great.

Maybe tell us what sort of games you like, what games your looking forward to, what non-gaming things you're interested in and maybe even a little bit about your choice of avatar.

REMINDER: THE DEFAULT AVATARS WILL BE REMOVED SHORTLY SO YOU'LL NEED TO UPLOAD ONE VIA YOUR ACCOUNT AT THE VERY TOP OF THE PAGE OR REQUEST A CUSTOM AVATAR HERE - Official NeoGAF Avatar Request Thread (work in progress)
We actually have several hundred brand new members that have just been joined up (Neophytes), I've added a few links below so that newer members can find their way to threads that may be of use to them.

------------------------------
BASIC MEMBERSHIP TYPES

There are three main types of membership on NeoGAF which I'll give a brief overview on below. You may also see other types of members in the community but these are the "standard" membership types.

Neophytes - The absolute newest of members.
  • Unable to create new threads. (Neophytes can now request to have a thread created on their behalf, follow this link for details.)
  • Unable to send messages using the NeoGAF messaging service. Able to receive messages though.
  • Unable to edit own posts after five minutes.
  • All posts are unpublished until a member of staff validates and publishes the posts.
  • Unable to enter NeoGAF Giveaways.

Neo Members - Have been seen to contribute positively to the forum.
  • Unable to create new threads.

Members - Have demonstrated a sustained positive contribution to the forum.
  • No member restrictions.

Although number of posts are also a factor in people moving from one type of membership to another, the reason we're not listing specifics is because it isn't solely based on that so somebody who has contributed positively could well be moved earlier than somebody with twice as many posts. Don't spam posts and expect to be moved earlier because it's very easy for the move to be delayed if we see that you're having a negative effect of the community.

Although being a full Member is permanent, in the general sense, it is possible for people to have rights removed if its deemed fit by the team. This would be unusual but it certainly isn't unheard of.

As some may already have noticed, we now have a Giveaways Tab at the top of the page, we're currently hosting our first giveaway and it's very much a work in progress but each individual giveaway can be set with a required minimum membership level rather than there being an overall requirement, so it's always worth checking there. Neophytes will not normally be able to enter though but as this one is a bit of test run for us, it is actually possible.

If you are a Neophyte and are wanting to contact staff for something and it isn't appropriate to use the Report Function (Reporting inappropriate posts) or the Error Reporting & Feedbackthread then you are able to do this using the Contact Us tab at the very bottom of the page or by using this email address - support@neogaf.com

Although you may find that you have more or less privileges than other members with different membership types, it doesn't mean that one type of member has authority over other members, it's not a rank and should never be treated as such.

------------------------------

Welcome to all members and thank you all for your contributions here, there's been a lot of support from the community here recently and we all hope that the you will lead by example for the new people rather than just relying on us to tell people what to do.

FEEL FREE TO USE THESE THREADS, THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE THERE FOR.

Hello guys, i'm Gaelyon from Europe (France). I'm an old but enthusiast gamer (my very first console was a Atari VCS 2600 which i got as a christmas gift back in 1981). I've been reading Neogaf for years (even before ResetEra existed) and i'm quite excited by the next gen consoles. See you in gaming threads soon ;)

Long time lurker here, finally decided to register.

I'm Paul. Born in the 80's, living life like it's the 90's. I've been gaming since the Atari days had most the mainstream platforms since then. I like to randomly donate money to good causes when I can.

Hi everyone, been lurking here lately following the "console war". Only decided to create an account because I wanted to post on a Stadia related thread but account activation took a while and now it's probably too late. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Hello. My IRL name is Craig but please don't hold that against me. I've spent many years lurking and still haven't been able to come up with a good username, avatar or introduction.

Hi all,
I'm Durien and I love games and hockey. I first started playing video games on an Atari 2600 as a kid so that dates me there. I was lurking on here but this place rocks! The people in here sometimes have me literally laughing out loud and found I want to lurk less and participate more. If I have to take a side on the console wars I'm a PS guy. I've bought into the ecosystem wholeheartedly but it is as also because of Atlus and NIS.

Please keep the laughs coming!
*bow*
No applause please. Just throw money.

Hey, how's it goin'? My name (obviously because of username) is Abby. Been gaming and stuff since i was like 5 or 6 and loved it since. I don't get to play as much as I used to, sadly. I'm also big on collecting and playing retro games/systems.

Right now I mainly play Fallout 76, WWE 2K19, Assasins Creed Odyssey, Avengers, Cuphead, Final Fantasy XIV on the PS4; Uncharted Golden Abyss, Dead Nation, Killzone Mercenary, Street Fighter x Tekken, and Batman Blackgate on the PS Vita.

I'm not a big competitive gamer but gimme that coop. Cats rock, some anime is great, cooking food for people rules, and love is love.

I do an amazing job being a stormtrooper on Star Wars Battlefront 2. Because i can't shoot to save my life 🤣

Hello,

I have been browsing GAF as a source for gaming news since ~2009 or so. I'm not a social person and I never registered an account.

I remember the forum getting worse and worse for a few years. I started visiting less often and it just seemed to be going down the drain right up until the big implosion. I followed the drama around that time and remember feeling bad for EviLore. Obviously I couldn't know who told the truth about the "incident", but in any case the collective reaction was so disgusting. I have no idea if I could have handled being in that place.

GAF wasn't exactly great in the time after that, but REEE was too obnoxious to even visit for me. I'm happy that this forum have bounced back overthe last few years. I will most likely not post that frequently, but I'm happy to partake in this community.
