This Is Halo Now

Halo has the most toxic fanbase in gaming.
Not even remotely close. Halo fans have not made death threats or drove to people's places of work or living.

Halo fans are lost and angry at most, and that's because they're one small step away from being irrelevant, much like fans of Quake and Unreal Tournament.

The first Halo didn't even have online MP.

The game was celebrated for it's SP campaign. I agree that the SP went downhill after Halo:CE, and it became more about MP then. But the series roots began in a stellar SP that was transformative for the genre on consoles.
The first Halo game was popular mostly because of its multiplayer PVP, LAN parties, split screen 4 player battles with friends passing the controller to others in the room when defeated. That is where the popular Red Vs Blue phenomenon came out off. This gaslight that "the series roots" were because of its single player campaign is revisionist history. The split screen Coop campaign was popular but you cant omit the couch/LAN party multiplayer craze. Combat Evolved is an inferior product to the originals art style and gameplay. Its soulless and trash and frankly its what you purple haired nose ring freaks deserve.
