What game has always made you smile without fail?

Not the answer I was expecting when entering this thread, but damn if it isn't the best one possible.

Not even the biggest fan of the series, but Uncharted 4 is a masterclass in set pieces and how you conclude a franchise.

It has so many great moments:

- Crash Bandicoot
- The attic scene
- Iconic car chase sequence
- That jungle / mountain battle arena where you're just jumping and swinging everywhere whilst fighting
- The prison break flashback
- The stormy ocean sequence
- Wholesome ending with the Uncharted 1 boat photo

I'm probably missing something else too

The two Darkside Detective games are also worth mentioning. They usually lean toward black comedy and subverted movie references, but some of the cases (like the retirement home) are hilarious.

Katamari games, by a wide margin.
They never fail. Such amazing games. Glad they got re-releases(I have them on Switch) and I have Once Upon a Katamari on PS5, though I haven't started it yet. I rented We Love Katamari on PS2 back in the day from the video store
on a whim and loved it so much, I ended up buying Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari.

I really love these games.

In need of game recommendations like this due to being in a current depression.
Zelda Wind Waker and Echoes of Wisdom are two very cute games that have given me a nice break from angst and depressive periods.

I've had dysthymia for some time and I've felt like it's been better for me to focus on Nintendo games to bring back some levity to my life. Hope you'll feel better soon!

Paper Mario (N64) & Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (GC).
Uncomplicated stories with a lot of whimsy and humor, a story going to strange places. Just a shame they fumbled the other games in the series.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Never really played the PS1 original, fell in love with the game and played it to completion three times since, deleted one save to start a fourth run later.

Grow Home & the sequel Grow Up.

Tinykin - Platformer with Pikmin mechanics.

Yoku's Island Express - Pinball/Metroidvania.

A short Hike - guaranteed to put a smile on your face for 3-4 hours.

... I just realized platformers take my to my happy place.

I just finished darkside detective 1 & 2 (they are free on google play pass) and completely agree, such a lovely and fun story; can't wait for the third game now.
