What is the most beautiful game ever?

Actraiser was/is a beautiful looking game:

Same for Super Ghouls n' Ghosts:

God I put in some hours on them back in the day!

I still consider Uncharted 4 to be the best looking game. The quality of assets, the composition, color pallate, lighting, environmental storytelling, variation of environments etc.
Uncharted 4 does have the best looking handcrafted home interiors in any game for sure.

Vagrant Story I thought looked fantastic back in the day, FFVII as well. More recently Hades, Crimson Desert, Elden Ring, The Witness. Have you guys played Deadlock? Amazing aesthetic and art design.

Easily The Witcher 3

Yeah man, that combo still gives me that sense of awe to this day, the colors with the sun's position or a storm building up and crashing down, the physics of nature in the environment, in the trees, grass, water, and that killer soundtrack. The Witcher 3 is like experiencing a flawlessly beautiful poem while sipping a fine wine, a red wine

Without being technically groundbreaking, Zelda: Botw has extraordinary colors and lighting. I've rarely seen such beautiful lighting in a game.

LOL at some of the replies here. The modern 3D games like Ghost of Yotei and Witcher 3 are only beautiful until another few generations come out and the tech gets better.

To be truly beautiful is to be timeless, and for me there is no more of a timeless game than Ori and the Will of the Wisps. I dont know how anyone who has played it could say it is anything less than industry topping.

Not only is it the pinnacle of art/style, but it will go down in history as one of the all-time great Metroidvanias as well. Just bloody fantastic.

Can okay echo other people's posts but I agree with Journey, Okami and Ori being the most visually striking and impressive games I've ever played. Truly art.

Stole my post. Its stunning art style will be timeless.

People aren't going to like hearing this, but I still think Genshin Impact has the most beautiful open world ever created. Even though its 5+ years old at this point, it holds up largely due to stylistic choices and the skill of the developers. I'm still amazed that this game runs on (modified) Unity. There are too many great vistas and thematic areas to count, and there are visual lore markers and environmental storytelling in nearly every single area. Even more impressive since the game is 100% free to play.

If Nintendo made this game, we would never stop hearing about it on GAF. Yea yea I get the jokes that HoYo copied Zelda, so technically Nintendo did make it, but that argument hasn't held water after the first year of the game.
