Will PS6 have 2,048 bits?

Since the PS5 is 1,024 bits, will Sony do the historical move of doubling bits to 2,048 or will they try to save money with only 50% more bits? Perhaps they will go with 1,536 bits for the handheld and 2,048 bits for the console?

it'll have all the bits you desire

PS5 is 64 bits, a major step down from PS2 that was 128 bit.

PS3 was 2TF - PS4 only 1.8TF. Sony downgrades their consoles all the time...

Not sure where you got that number from. The PS5 has a 64bit CPU.

Bits being a defining aspect of performance hasn't been a thing for decades.

Without competition in console market i would say 50% but they are also competing with aggressive pc sales now, but with the memory issues and costs they have to double it to keep pace.

nothing has more than 64 bits. and really that is just 8bytes thats readable as one. so 8 x 8 bits = 64 bits

everything is still 8 bits at heart:messenger_smirking:

Not sure if trolling but the PS5 is only a 64 bit system. After 64bits it becomes irrelevant, just look at the binary counting system to know why. 32 bit has limitations of around 4 billion sectors but 64 has more sectors than you will ever need for the foreseeable future.

LOL, where did the 1024 bits come from. :messenger_tears_of_joy: I'd love to see the math on that one.

I miss calling the consoles using the bits without understanding anything about it. Cut back to young me being impressed with the Nintendo 64 for it being 64-bits or when the magazines started talking about the 128-bits era. It was the biggest word of it's time, everyone talked about the bits.
