You know something?
I'm asking because you have been a reliable source for rumors..
Why cant rumors about the next Xbox be about positive things? Its constantly about negative features like always online or blocking used games.
Someone correct me, because I'm sure I'm wrong, but wouldn't publishers/developers focus on putting the biggest and best games on the Xbox, knowing they'll sell more new copies?

I keep on asking my sources about always online and they keep telling me its real. As far as big exclusives go I am just going off of logical assumptions. I agree that for MS to be going full steam down this road they must feel incredibly confident about the content they have locked up. Real confident.
We got a break and VGLeaks posted some positive rumors for Durango - $99 xbox, no mandatory online, ability to play used games ..Why cant rumors about the next Xbox be about positive things? Its constantly about negative features like always online or blocking used games.
I'm really looking forward to May 21st. I'm going to wait and see if Don's smug face says that it's always-online and it'll block used games. Then I can finally say I won't buy that POS.

If the Xbox was always online and doesn't allow second hand games, at the minute it's a no brainer for us as to which console to choose. Hypothetically. if a developer is making a game and MS tell them that every single copy sold they would be paid, whether it be first week of release or 6 months after release, I think every developer would jump at the chance.
I know this isn't something I want to happen but as it stands developers only receive payment for the initial purchase and gets completely cut out of the used market for every subsequent sale. With this in mind, what if every single developer joined Xbox as exclusives as it guaranteed them revenue for every copy sold and a reduction in piracy.
From a business standpoint, I think this is what MS is going for as they know pubs/devs don't get a share of the used market, of which there will be none on the Xbox.
The day I give up console gaming if this is the future. I'll stick with my trusty PC.

Even if this rumor was true, I could see them not wanting to talk about these "features" until closer to launch.
This is what I was thinking...I'm sure if the rumors are true, Microsoft didn't make the decision lightly, and I'm sure they've talked to publishers, and will land a lot of big exclusives because of this. Apple follows the same restrictive strategy and it works pretty well for them, but Microsoft would have to have the games to back it up.
I am guessing EA and Activision right? I have a feeling both BF4 and CoD will be exclusive to Durango (excluding the PS360 versions)
lol, the day before launch:
"Oh we forget to tell you guys, but you can't play used games and stuff... ya.... Hope you guys have a great time picking up your new consoles tomorrow! *ugly Mattrick grin*"
Sure why not.
And while you're at it don't forget unlimited blowjobs and beer. The Durango will be able to provide both and all you need to do is wave your penis in front of the Kinect camera while making whale sounds.

God, I'm so sick of this
Microsoft is doing themselves such a huge disservice by letting any blowhard with a fruit crate to stand on talk about their console.
They did confirm the PS4 version. http://www.polygon.com/2013/3/27/4151852/battlefield-4-17-minute-trailerI'm not sure about CoD, but I absolutely wouldn't be shocked if MS had at least timed exclusivity for the next-gen verison of BF4. The fact that DICE refused to confirm a PS4 version after the BF4 unveiling was rather telling. They wouldn't even say that it was coming to next-gen consoles.
I just can't even imagine the level of hubris required to block out the internet's universally negative reaction to such concepts.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com last night, creative director Lars Gustavsson said that he "cannot" confirm DICE's next-gen plans for Battlefield 4, despite the reveal of the studio"s new high-end engine Frostbite 3.
"It's more [because] here, right now, we want the focus to be on the single-player demo," Gustavsson replied, when we asked why the developer couldnt confirm whether Battlefield 4 is heading to next-gen platforms.
The offline gamer is useless to MS.
They won't pay for XBL. They won't buy XBLA games. They won't buy video content. They won't buy DLC. They won't subscribe to Random MS Service #7.
From MS's perspective offline users cost MS money (assuming the new Xbox is sold at a loss).
So why would MS support offline gamers? It doesn't make sense to their financial desires.
That's why they would do, dunno if they will.

Its not a conspiracy. Thats all devs are talking about.

Also, there's no real conclusive evidence that people don't take their consoles online to download content. They may do this but are primarily offline gamers as it's not possible for them to keep their console online at all times.

People really think that publishers are going to put their games only on 720 instead of using their own always online solution on PS4? Lmfao. There is nothing stopping PS4 games from being always online. I think upcoming PS3/360 games will be always online as well(if it happens). People who think publishers are just going to ignore ps4 are foolish. Online passes could also eliminate used game sells for PS4. Instead of just blocking multiplayer, they block the entire game. It's not really hard for PS4 to reach parity in terms of anti consumer stuff.I am guessing EA and Activision right? EA & Microsoft are rumoured to have a co-marketing deal on next-gen games (per CVG iirc). That would be explanation enough for EA's coyness on next-gen versions of games at this point. Don't think their behaviour is telling of more than that, necessarily.

That shoukd be its own thread.
