It doesn't appear to be this thread, but this one is alive-ish, so I just want to chime in to the people who said "you'll get used to the new embedded player". You were wrong. Still an ugly piece of shit. And still lacking one rather nice feature of the old one, where if you clicked YouTube it would take you to a new tab with the actual YouTube video at your current timestamp and pause the embedded one. The YouTube button still works, but doesn't automatically pause.
More on topic, ever since Edge got retarded with respect to uBlock, and also started deleting all my settings on update, I've been on Brave. Which is a bit crusty at times but gets the job done. Sometimes I get buffering but I'm not sure I can blame it on ad punishment. Generally it works okay, and if it takes a 20 minute video an extra 3 seconds to start it's not really a big deal. Mostly I think the behavior is pretty normal though, the videos that take a while to load are generally have low views, I'm sure popular stuff gets cached in memory and/or faster storage, so it all seems reasonable.
