hmmmmm I swear Metal Gear Solid 4 looks better than this ? ( PS3 version)
The shaders and lighting alone in MGSV are a step above MGS4.

MGS4 was 1080p on a proprietary engine for the cell processor.
This is the Fox Engine primarily designed for next-gen and x86 architecture that has been ported to make calls on cell and powerpc.
So I wouldn't be surprised if certain strengths of the MGS4 rendering engine are lost.
MGS4 was 1080p?!
I really need to get a higher res TV. 1366x768 just isn't cutting it anymore.

Just looked at the back of the box, and yes, 1080p native.

Areas are probably larger though.
Destiny is guaranteed to be superior on the PS4. Not even just the visual differences, but whatever else we will be getting out of the money Sony has thrown to Activision/Bungie.
I think they'd both be nuts to show their faces round here after all the pre-launch lies they were spouting. I'd love it if they popped up in one of the threads though, they'd be throwing themselves to the wolves. It would be epic!
wat
lol?
Indeed.lol
try 1024x768
That picture is amazing lol.
There's only one area on GZ though...

I don't know if you're joking or not, but the back of my box of MGS4 says 720p.
Indeed.
MGS 4 is not 1080p.
It's not even 720p.
Sure, but probably larger than the biggest area in MGS 4. And no loading screens.
It looks great, but there's actually a part of me which prefers how the ground looks on the PS3 version (aside from resolution of course).Looks a generation apart. Plus double the framerate. Bravo Kojima.
MGS4 wasn't even 720p. Don't know where he got that from.
Really? I have the one that came with the MGS4 PS3 bundle on release day (the release day of the bundle) and it says 1080p on it.

I realize that now, but still saying what's on the back of my box.

Ground Zeroes [PS3]
It is kind of funny though. The ground textures are much sharper and detailed in the PS4 screenshot, but I actually think the blurred and less detailed texture work in the PS3 screenshot looks more realistic. The mud has a really soggy and wet look to it. It could be just that screenshot though.
What the fuck are you people on with this back of the box bullshit, lol. Those are just the resolutions which the game is/can be upscaled to.
I think the lighting engine for MGS:GZ is much more dynamic and overall better than 4. And the colours are less tinted and fuller in the new game. But from a less technical point of view MGS4 has a great look equal to the newer game.
My copy also had 1080p on the back.Right, but SolidSnakeUS said his copy had 1080p on the back, whereas ours don't, we were just showing that.

I had to dig out my copy to see who was correct. US release copy. I understand this doesn't mean it's the native rendering resolution of the game.
Supported HD video output: 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p
Oh yeah, I forgot Sony had a deal with Activision and Bungie for Destiny. No worries with that one then.
Ha, they won't. Not unless whatever game in question is equal on both platforms. And looking at his post history, Penello has only posted a few times since he's been back, and only in announcement threads.
Never forget:
Despite the resolution, I'm actually quite impressed with how it looks on last-gen hardware.
It looks great, but there's actually a part of me which prefers how the ground looks on the PS3 version (aside from resolution of course).
Am I crazy?
Okay, I think we're done with this the MGS4 stuff then.

No, you're not crazy, I prefer PS3 mud too, I know technically it's not the best but it does just look like wet sloppy mud! Haha. It might look different in motion though so I reserve judgement.

On PS4
Going off the screens the game looks pretty crappy on all platforms..
Never forget:
That's a joke right? I mean he didn't really make that mistake did he?
