Anyone else have a problem with MGS4 where it kills your PS3? I played the game once to completion on a 60gb PS3, and I had no problems. I returned to it when Peace Walker was coming out so I could replay it but it ended up killing my 60gb PS3. I borrowed my dad's 80gb PS3 model so I could try playing it on that, but it murdered that machine as well. I bought a 120gb PS3 Slim afterwards and decided to not play MGS4 for a while, but when I did, it ended up killing that machine too. All the same exact copy of MGS4.

In Game Informer's discussion about it they said that it's gone and you have to rely on sound and visuals (such as where a guard is facing) to determine whether or not you're going to be spotted.

Ugh, that compression, I took some MGS4 screens recently and they look cleaner though the sub hd isn't helping!!!

Honestly cant tell the difference between the 360 and Xbone. Bravo Kojima.

Look at the night time camp picture. Way more geometry being rendered by the Xbox One for the ground and small things like rocks. Additionally, it looks like the dirt texture resolution may be slightly higher. Still, the PS3 -> PS4 images have clear differences that are either not in the Xbox One version or are difficult to see due to it being rendered at 720p. I suspect that some of the textures are a different res between the One and the PS4.

I'm so glad that people like Larry and Albert have been exposed for the who they are (I mean professionally, I'm sure they are nice people in their private lives...).

The more damning side to it is how Albert and Major have been on a disinformation tour since E3 swearing up and that the Xbone and PS4 are in parity from a performance perspective. I think now all the folks on /r/xboxone who bought into it are finally admitting to themselves that it was all bullshit and have the torches out. Major who comes into every thread on /r/xboxone with his "Thanks, I'll take that one back to the team" bullshit has not shown his face in any of the threads.

It would have been better if they just up and admitted the hardware was weaker and tried to justify the price with Kinect and TV. They lied and now all the people who paid $500 because of the lies are pissed. That's bad.

A lot of people on GAF - and at least a couple dozen other locations on the web - have been trying to inform fellow gamers for a long time about the hardware gap between the PS4 and Xbox One. The fact this is only now just dawning on a lot of people goes to show how powerful media misinformation can be when people *want* to believe something. My calm mantra since well before launch has been, well, "math". Once the specs were leaked with good authority and broken down by DF and a couple other places, it should have been obvious what the end result was going to be for most multiplat games right out of the gate. I own a couple of each next gen system and don't regret a thing as I'm enjoying both systems for the strengths and keeping my fingers crossed that various UI/OS annoyances get improved with updates. But I went into launch with my eyes open knowing full well the PS4 was going to be the obvious choice for multiplats and the XB1 is there, for me at least, only for exclusives. I understand a lot of people feel a bit burned at this point. Some of that is willful ignorance on the part of consumers...but some of it is no doubt because MS did a pretty good job muddying the waters and obfuscating the truth. For all of us who have been trying to let others know the truth, it seems there have been 5 console warriors to contradict the truth with some nonsense that MN tweeted about the power of the cloud. All in all I want both companies to succeed as competition is good for gamers, but the way that MS and some of its representatives have conducted themselves is less than admirable.

A lot of the gaming press, especially in the UK, still think the performance gap is down to the XBO SDK and think within time it will achieve parity or even surpass the PS4 performance wise.

Only yesterday morning a CVG writer posted saying as much, even compared it to the last gen situation of the PS3's rough start and how it improved once devs learned how to use it and got 84 up votes, I told him he was wrong and explained why and I got down voted.

People are more inclined to believe people who are supposed to be gaming journalists because they're supposed to be in the know, but the truth is, most of them are clueless.
