I wish you could do that in game since it's only doable in the main menu and I need to remind myself to do that next time, lol.

You can do it in-game, hit the bottom left of the touchpad, that's the in-game pause menu ;)

You can also press the right trigger (a little, gradually to fully pressed) and zoom in during cutscenes.

On another note, I'll be the first one to maybe say something that won't be popular, but I think Snake's face in the menu and cutscenes is not the same as Snake during gameplay. There I said it :p

To me, during gameplay his beard is lower quality, face texture also lower res. If you click in the right analog to zoom for a pic (while having the camera facing Snake) it blurs his face. Then if you try to rotate the camera to certain angles of his face, he conveniently animates to look the other way...

Just saying.

Kojima really knows the importance of detail and special effects.

This shot disagrees with that whole 'detail' thing. It's almost the opposite for me. I think there's almost no attention to detail really.

I'm trying really hard to avoid looking at these Infamous screenshots, but god damn, the uncompressed shots look insane.

Edit: Ground Zeroes isn't terrible looking as well, I'm sure it looks a lot better in motion due to 60 fps.

I'm going to pickup MGS V this friday, but man the screenshots really shows this is a last gen game with tricks to basically try and cover up the fact that is last gen. Still great though, since I rather have 60 FPS and some dithering.

The blur/DOF though is nothing compared to Infamous or even Sleeping Dogs pc though. Its almost Gausian Blur like, rather than film BOKEH which Kojima is trying to go for. They should retweak that for next gen because low quality BOKEH is a real let down for a game trying really hard to be cinematic.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
I was jonesing for some Metal Gear. (partially as a challenge to my screenshotting skills) Went to Walmart because they're the only store open past 11. They don't carry it. Not sold out... they don't carry it. FML

I'm not talking about that kind of detail. A lot of assets in his games are lowres/low-poly. It's detail like the look of the lens flares off the spotlights, the rain bouncing off Snake's shoulders, the ponchos on the guards, the ways guns animate (almost feteshisticly throughout the series), the way the camera animates in cutscenes, the slight blur when you zoom in with the binoculars, etc. dude is obsessed with making things feel like a movie.

0_0 those ground textures...could it be a texture loading glitch?

Nah, there's heaps of those awesome textures around the edges of the map where you start missions.

The game looks passable for the most part, but overall, very disappointing.

Here's two of my better shots. (yet the water still looks like it's from a Dreamcast game)

The aliasing on Snake's hair and beard is just ugly and probably confirms my earlier thought that the menu and cutscene Snake is a higher quality face loaded in and out.

I'm sure some techie can name it, but the edges of the hair and beard during gameplay look all 'crosshatch' like.

Fair enough :)

Just wish he was obsessed with next-gen only releases... (although some of the visuals are really unacceptable for even last gen)

Yeah, I actually haven't even beaten the main mission yet, so I've only seen things at night with the rain. It seems pretty clear that's where most of the effort went. Seeing things well lit makes all the flaws more apparent.

Give me a Dragons Dogma sequel with the Infamous:SS engine.

Or a PC release of Dragons Dogma -_- with modding cababilities.

GZ is fun to play. Especially trying to finish missions without being seen, or taking out every guard etc, as it makes you think.

But graphically, it's just a last-gen game in HD (and a higher frame rate).

Love the art style of this game, it's really charming and the gameplay itself is rather addictive. Burned through a good 5+ hours this afternoon and have been very much enjoying myself, it's like a Spelunky Metroidvania, so well recommended for fans of either.

Ground Zeroes doesn't look great, but it would probably give a better impression had it come out at a time when this thread wasn't filled with Infamous screenshots.
Not that I'm complaining, but everything tends to look bad next to that game. Sucker Punch are wizards.

a cross gen third party game doesn't look as good as infamous? wow look at these low resolution assets, this will certainly diminish my enjoyment of this title as a cable enthusiast. kojima has some explaining to do

Trying to be a smart ass backfires when you see the rest of the game sorry mate.

So this guy looks a little like Elliott Smith to me. Anyone else?...

*EDIT

What the hell, while I'm throwing out random observations, here's a few more.

The XB1 and PS4 shots are all really technically impressive, but nothing makes my eyes as happy as Nintendoland, the Wii U launch game... I like the cartoony fun-ness of the graphics.

Side note : It seems like it might be accurate to compare Xbox to DC and Sony to Marvel Comics, while Nintendo is kind of the Archie of the comic book world... Archie even has Mega Man and Sonic comics, plus their Zombie storyline going on right now is kind of like ZombiU in that they both go against type for the parent company.
