Here's a couple of blurry "good ones" I snapped

To be clear, that Patlabor one reads "When there are Criminal Minds on the loose and Unsolved Mysteries to be solved, it's time for Goto's Angels to start Breaking Bad".

Can I get paid to do this?

The Patlabor one is a thing of beauty.

Ohh, did he do the mock-up Sentai boxes/titles? I loved those.

we'll never forget the Girlock Holmes we saw that day.

Good times.

Blade and Soul - 01

"i'll get my revenge"

The main character has like what 4 lines in the entire first ep
"no need"
"alka"
"hum"
"it was them"
"Get your revenge"

Soory it was 5 lines!!!

They even explain that all the people in the clan of the sword are like that in the after credits , but i cannot help but imagine just how wrong everything in this clan could have been if they were like that during their daily life!
Even assasins needs talking skills!!
Blade%20and%20Soul%20-%2001.jpg

I predict QUITE A AMOUNT of doujins for the next comiket with her.
Anyway blade and soul first episode wasn't that bad regardless .
It wasn't ugly ,but it wasn't pretty. some parts were ok , other somewhat muddy. and the original game designs still intresting to watch EVEN IF we've lost a lot during the conversion.

In the game ( hey i've played this ) , you have quite a bit of story in the village before it gets attacked by the empire .... ( it kinda acts as a tutorial ) this entire sequence seems to be gone and they tried to go in the action faster..Why not ? i would have prefereda more talkative heroine. Her counter part already seems to be the exact opposite.

Anyway, Average start but if you forgot that the game designs exist , it's alright ...

Fix up that OP Narag.

-----------------------

I apologize for the footnote, but there's a lot of region-exclusive stuff this season shared between Funi and CR that makes things complicated. Also, I don't know if they have English-language subs for those particular shows on CR.

And good lord at Saturdays.

Now, off to skim several dozen pages and see what big topics I missed... if anyone has a cliffs notes it'd be much appreciated.

Since people enjoyed that Patlabor one, here's another good one. The other two aren't nearly as great

I'd take Girlock Holmes if it meant a western Hyouka release at this point

Hyouka joins The Tatami Galaxy on my entirely pessimistic list of series that I'd pay big monies for western blu-rays of, but will probably never see.

The Tatami Galaxy not coming I can understand. Hyouka I won't.

*Girlock Holmes would be the grossest misrepresentation of the series. I actually wouldn't buy that even if it was available.

I'm not even sure what that sentence means ? is it because english is not my first language ? i thought that i knew enough to decipher anything but i'm challenged it seems.

So many shows on Saturday.

Looking at that, so far schedule looks like: Sunday - 4; Wednesday - 2; Thursday - 4; Friday - 1; Saturday - 7. Hopefully I can trim back some more.

First impressions of the dub voices for Date a Live are not good. But I'm going to at least try and reserve my final judgement until the crucial scenes for the cast (Tohka's date with Shido, Kurumi going apeshit).

As someone who does love to watch English dubs... this was not a good first impression to me. Such a shame, too, as I really like Date A Live.

...Actually, you know, so would I.

Fairy Tail 177

This is the first night I had a chance to compare (a few minutes of) the CR subs with the Funi ones. I thought they were the same now that Funi and CR are cooperating closer than ever, but there's some differences in phrasing - Funi also removes all honorifics from the script.

I'm sticking with Funimation.

On the subject of the episode, so that's what's going on here. Elaborate time travel schemes. I'm a bit disappointed that Lucy has to play the damsel in distress role, but I wouldn't put it past her and Yukino to cook up some sort of prison break. The introductions for the various guilds in the last round of the game were over the top, giving this tournament arc an even more Triwizard Tournament feel than before. I'm not a manga reader (or source material reader in general), so I don't know what's coming up, but I'm certain throwing Juvia into the mix will screw up Lyon's game at least a little bit.

Hmm, that's a good point. I always considered that the main effect of DVRs and streaming is that broadcasts are no longer considered social events but personal experiences, but it also has the effect of reinforcing the idea that everything must be novel. When people lose an appreciation for the merits of revisiting works, then they start to believe that loss of novelty means loss of value.

i actually collect series as yall know, so it lends itself to rewatching. For me anime is collectible not disposeable, so I have more appreciation for older series after people have moved on. i try to recommend older shows too but there is limited availability if you know what I mean. Its hard for a new anime fan to appreciate something they dont even have legal access to or any easy way to get.

Admittedly some people did reach the "sorry to say your taste is crap" level. But even if so you should be the bigger person and just continue to enjoy it. Don't stoop to their level.

I really hate strawman arguments and making a person out to be "the problem". This is very negative perspective on things and really shouldnt be tolerated.

Are there other interesting shows that deal with amnesia in the same way Golden Time did (or maybe different, but also serious)? To me, the best thing about the show was definitely that dynamic, usually when a main character has amnesia, it just serves as a plot point later on, but I honestly loved the way they handled it there. I guess it just felt human. Of all the ridiculous melodrama that Banri had over anything, this one was definitely deserved, his struggles with his past life, being scared about it and even
being afraid of and later coming to terms with the fact that the person he calls "me" may suddenly disappear, after all, he's basically another person using someone else's body, and the original owner may wake up at any time.

It was also probably the reason I disliked the ending, after such incredibly moving episodes like 22 and 23, having LOVE CONQUERS ALL with Ghost Banri even getting his ring out of the water (?????????) was kinda stupid. He could have achieved the same result but with a bittersweet ending instead of just saying "you know all those inner conflicts? fuck that, we're happy now. OG Banri can fuck off"

Rumbling Hearts is very melodramatic and plays off the story of a girl who was in a bad car accident and woke up from a coma which immediately put her in a similar situation to Banri.

Spice and Wolf 6

It's pretty nice to be able to watch an anime based on a light novel, and not have negative attitude towards the concept or what to expect from it. I can only imagine what this sort of story would have looked like if it was written now trying to appeal to the current popular LN tropes. Lawrence will probably be a high school student who is a genius economist who is trying to save the world. So I'm consistently surprised when I see some smart writing in these past few episodes or see the way the relationship between Holo and Lawrence is developing in a natural progress. I still can't say I care much about the economics concepts explored, but they are doing a fine job in creating conflict and drama.

Theres no definitive LN. Like a great book it really just depends but there are definitely some very good LN adaptations. Obviously the harem ones are popular to adapt so many shows are shit but its not the rule.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders 2

Fuck yeah this is fabulous (and all feels pretty fresh since I can't really remember many details of this stuff from the manga). Got a good laugh out of Joseph making instant coffee with the tea ceremony kit. He really does never give any fucks.

The pacing feels pretty restrained too. Definitely hoping this series turns out to be more than two cours, else I can see quite a lot getting cut. And that would suck =/

Well they did that with Attack on Titan so I thought it was expected theyd do the same with Fairy Tail.

When I think of the worst example of Sentai's marketing, Mashiro-iro Symphony comes to mind. How do you turn a slow-paced, heartwarming visual novel adaptation with one of the cutest animal mascots...

Watch it boys: if you're trying to get in, these girls will make sure you stay out! Poor Shingo. As soon as life starts becoming normal, his coed school, Kagamidai, begins the process of merging with Yuihime, an all girls private academy. Not only that, but Shingo's also been picked to be part of a group of test males who will be transferred into a Yuihime classroom. Suddenly, he is surrounded by the enemy, no ammo in sight, and with literally no man power to back him up. How will Shingo survive this death trap of feisty females? Will he learn to coexist, or will he just get his eyes scratched out? Find out in Mashiroiro Symphony ~ The Color of Lovers!

into this?

First, let me be clear that I am not at all a fan of Ping Pong. I also thoroughly detest the kind of visual style used here; it is rough and ugly to my eye. It may be well-animated and the framing of scenes and their progression is handled with expert skill, but that does not overcome abhorrent visual aesthetics.
neat.

also, literally "the sum of its parts". :^)

That's insane. Have a real soft spot for Mashiro-iro Symphony.

Though I guess at least its not such that I'm embarrassed to own it, unlike some Funimation titles.

Yu Gi Oh Arc V 1

That was a pretty fun first episode, though I have the same complaint that I had with ZeXal after one episode in that both split the first major duel of the series into a two part affair, YGO, GX, and 5Ds managed to fit the first duel into one episode why did the later series spread them out across two? It's especially annoying that both ZeXal and Arc V end with the MC getting his out of nowhere plot hax new monster mechanic as a tease for the next episode.

Rant aside I really did like this episode and this is already showing a lot more promise then ZeXal did, don't think it looks as good as the original or 5Ds but it's at least as good as GX after 1 episode.

---

So right now my spring anime list looks something like this

Yu Gi Oh Arc V
Soul Eater Not
Black Bullet
Coffin Princess
Captain Earth
Irregular at Magic Highschool
Majin Bone
JoJo Stardust Crusaders

There are two other series I'm curious about and was hoping to get some info about, Break Blade and The File of Young Kindaichi Returns. Is the first one just a made for tv adaptation of the anime films aka should I watch those instead or is the tv version going to go farther and adapt more of the ongoing manga? And is Kindaichi a sequel or a remake?

For both I basically want to know if I should watch these new versions or the original versions?

I don't think The File of Young Kindaichi Returns is a remake, but as a newbie it sees its made with no assumed knowledge. At least based on episode 1.

Matthew 7:3

"And why beholdest thou the goggles upon thy brother's eyes, but considerest not the goggles that is upon thine own eyes?"

Haha the last one was supposed to be me. Should've written a 'Hate'

Just skimming this thread, and I can't shake the feeling that one day, Admiral Woofington will post straight up dog porn in here one day.

q5D0gcn.gif

I just post appropriate gifs with dogs if given a chance. Keep it themed. I mean I post anime gifs when possible. The jump from 'dog doing silly things' to 'dog porn' is quite big. The internet has turned your mind into something very dirty.

I don't think The File of Young Kindaichi Returns is a remake, but as a newbie it sees its made with no assumed knowledge. At least based on episode 1.

MAL says it's a sequel to an older series that has like 100+ episodes. But apparently everybody says you could jump in here with the new series and not really lose much

So it's basically Conan without any sort of over arching plot of "I got turned into a kid" and is just about some dude that solves crimes? Sounds good ot me

Man, this is basically waifu the anime. But it suffers from the same problem that these sorts of romcoms almost always suffer from, the main girl's personality is basically eclipsed by the other girls in the cast and you wonder why the dude is attracted to her in the first place.

Still, the supporting cast is fun, so as long as there are no Pet Girl-esque shenanigans, this should be a good one for me anyway.

Doesn't seem like there is one. The new anime is adapting manga chapters that were published in 2012 and it looked like no previous knowledge was needed. So it's safe to assume this is meant for new viewers as well.

Well there probably is a season wide plot, but the premise of teenage son (or was it grandson) of famous detective solving crimes is pretty self contained. Maybe the first series is about that earlier detective.

Has a thing for book geeks / lady librarians (in training). But yeah...I'd probably be more interested in Mayumi.

No the whole series from my understanding has been about this guy. Genius IQ but lazy, solving crimes for a detective yadda yadda yadda. Seems like it's an episodic show with few recurring characters, hence why it might be good to jump at any time unlike say Gintama which is always expanding on its cast and their characterization.

I don't know why anybody hasn't stepped up to the challenge. Could have just assigned a banner/blurb to each poster and have one ready in a day!

Conan can be experienced just fine without it's over arching plot. Someone even made a great list of episodes to jump in!

I plan to one weekend and power marathon the manga then watch a few episodes a night of the anime to catch up. I like what I've seen of Conan it's just after the crazy bad addiction to One Piece anime that happened to me in 2012 (where I watched the entire at the time 550ish episodes in 6 weeks) I never want to do that again ever lol

Blade and soul - 02
GONZOOOOOOOOOO

What is this CG.

There is good CG dances ( precure , yakitake japan ) and there is bad CG dance ( Blade and soul )

What horror..

Episode wasn't that bad and the fight was alright , when a bullet is Cg it doesn't bother me, but damn that dancing ...

WHY GONZO WHYYYY

She doesn't have any and she doesn't talk much

It's a shame that this episode had such low points because it had fine high points .. the characterisation of the 2 new characters was fine and i liked it
