bull...fricking...shite.

cant wait for ND to join the ranks of Ubi as downgrade central. No offense to PS4, i own it and love it, but to stomp a mudhole in PC graphics achievement is just asnine.

Feel sorry for anyone who believes this is in game, real time.

Pity me, then. I've seen enough generational jumps where a few new but simple-to-implement visual techniques have utterly changed the look of a decade's worth of software. This is a situation where highly talented artists are given access to a relatively new set of tools in a closed-off development "garden." This impresses me, but it doesn't surprise me. I leave room in my expectations for "downgrades," but I have zero doubt the impression this game gives will match what we see in the footage.

May I have a cookie?
If that's what they can do on their first PS4 title, what will they be able to achieve by the end of the console's life?

Honestly, I expect photoreal humans.

Damn, if this is true then Uncharted is practically confirmed to still be linear. I was hoping they would go open world like Tomb Raider. If the game is as 'linear' as TLoU though that would still be acceptable.

You said that the fact it was 60fps proved that it wasn't CG. Your statement was simply incorrect. If that proved anything, this thread wouldn't exist, the discussion would be completely different.

I didn't mean it that way, we're talking videogames not math. By this line of thought you could say Sony's statement doesn't prove anything because they could be lying. In fact, stuff like that has happened before. I take the fact that the teaser is in 60 fps to be greater proof than even Sony's statement.

Linear is not a bad thing..being open world just for the sake of being open world would be a disaster...The Uncharted series didn't win game of the year awards for the heck of it...

There is just about ZERO reason for ND to mess with the Uncharted formula

This.

Why the heck didn't they say "real-time" before the trailer, then?! Would've blown socks off even more.

They could have said that and still we'd have doubters and internet know-it-alls screaming "pre rendered" and "bullshit" as a matter of fact I bet there are still a handful of people who still doubt it or don't want to believe it despite everryone confirming it was real time.

What are they freakin wizards?

If the final game, in-game real-time with AI and shit running, looks like that at 1080p60FPS, well I guess that'd be a good thing.

Bad gif I made but sort of first thing I thought of, surely Sunhi can make a better version if he felt so inclined

love it. :D

love on your sleeve
So why cant Driveclub be 60FPS if this is? They need to go have a chat with ND.

DriveClub was developed largely as a launch game and the delay was for other things beyond visuals. It's their first game on PS4 and ND spoke about the experiencing of porting The Last of Us and how much it benefitted them.

Besides, DriveClub is just about the best looking racer ever on a console and a huge achievement for Evolution.

Ok. Confirmed real-time. They threw the gauntlet down. Let's see how true their word is when we get the first look at gameplay.

Do you also look at Gran Turismo trailers and think they are realtime? They're all 60fps too. The choice of framerate doesn't prove anything, I don't know why you want to continue this debate.

Comparing Naughty Dog to Ubisoft? Lol

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
I can't wait to see the traversal animation... I just have this feeling they are going to completely rework how Drake moves and platforms, to the point that jaws will drop.

Insane level of character detail, water physics, sand deformation, vegetation physics, no visable polygon edges anywhere, perfect AA, in 1080p...

...at 60fps.

Sorry, I'm a big fan of Naughty Dog and their former wizardry but I just can't believe this is in engine realtime rendered. No way. I believe it when I see it on my own TV, the infamous Motorstorm, Killzone target render disappointment still hurt too much. Don't want that kind of disappointment again.

Those were straight up done with CGI. ND did not make that scene with using CG. Apples to oranges. PS3 had no chance for those graphics at all, PS4 on the other hand can meet ND's demand.

I 100% believe they will accomplish 1080/60 with this game. I feel like they're trying to make it a staple in their games from now on beginning with TLoU Remastered.

You can do it, ND.

p.s. I'm sure TLoU2 will look incredible as well.

And it's like they forget the main reasons they even used recorded cutscenes in the first place reportedly was to do stuff in the background, probably due to the small amount of memory, like hide load times. Even then it wasn't pre-rendered CG and their goal was always making the transition as seamless as possible so that they look the same.

I want to believe.

I'm going to believe.

I believe.

Naughty dogs have outdone themselves. I look forward to seeing the actual gameplay.

I wonder how the Drive Club sequel will perform.

Or perhaps they will alternate with a new Motorstorm game.

*Pacific Rift is amazing*

What I don't really understand is we know this will be bested by other devs like SSM, QD and ND themselves in a few years. This will look "bad" by then. It just seems like something this good would happen at the end of the gen, not right at the beginning. If the gameplay comes even close I have no idea what the future will bring. Is QD's next game for example actually going to look like CG!? Like WTF

I'm definitely excited for this. The new animations for Assassin's Creed Unity were incredible enough already, and ND are far better animators so I can't even imagine....

When we saw what Sucker Punch did with Infamous SS, what RAD did with the order, we always followed by "Imagine what ND or SMM will do with PS4"

This is beyond my wildest imagination.

I hope ND deliver, even the final gameplay look 80% to cutscene (like their past work), its still crazy.
