Has anything flood related been good? Flood campaign levels have always been my least favorite. They're an inherently annoying ass enemy to fight and the levels always seem have confusing layouts along with an incredibly ugly brown/green aesthetic.
343 Guilty Spark. Peaked early.

Floodgate has its merits too, but still missing a lot of the quiet interludes and buildup I liked so much about 343 GS. Most Flood levels in the series lack it altogether.

I actually prefer quite a few of the Flood levels, due to the chaos they bring, especially when the Carriers start popping and grenades go off.

Seriously it makes me frustrated this pre order dlc never died. Do retailers REALLY need this sort of nonsense?

Well yeah. They get more money if a game sells at their location.

edit: I think retailers pay a little extra to get specific pre-order rewards for their customers.

Pre-Order Bonuses for Halo: The Master Chief Collection - Get a multiplayer map guide and in-game Grunt Funeral skull (which explodes after your death), only at Best Buy.

Amazon
Pre-order Halo: Master Chief to receive the Piñata Skull - Skulls are game modifiers that affect campaign gameplay dynamically by making it more fun and entertaining. With the Piñata Skull, enemies will drop plasma grenade with every melee. Codes will be emailed to customer two days after order ships.

useless!

It looks like future 343 Halo games will let you pick up skulls... at your local retailer.
HA!

Didn't you say some/one of your friends in JP got all the preorder DLC that was fragmented over here at a single retailer?

See if that's how it was it would be fine, but I can't pre-order the damn game at 5 different places!

How do the 6 remade Halo 2 maps work? If you happen to be playing a match in one of them you press Select (or whatever the button the swaps visuals is called) and suddenly you have shinier visuals or what.

The best part is, the retailer execs feel you need preorder stuff to sell games these days, but they also don't care how the DLC is exclusive. They just care that it says PRE ORDER BONUS. The game companies are the ones deciding to lock away gameplay functionality, not the retailer.

Had a brief but good chat about how dedicated servers would work in replacing peer to peer this morning and I at least was excited about how it works and what will be improved. We should be able to talk about it more as things get cleaned up and test gets further.

Nope, new engine based on Halo 4 with gameplay based (not exactly the same) on Halo 2 with new things in the maps. All the original versions of the Halo 2 maps are in the package though.

EDIT: Frank, are we gonna see TMCC again soon?

Except then sometimes you get no bonuses... Also I like physical copies.

Rather do that than pander to some silly every retailer paid for some pointless bonus.

Physical copies? To each there own, but I'll never purchase a physical copy again. Digital is just simply superior in functionality on the console.

Keep the hype train rolling.

Two things about dedi's I worry about, first is how often I see tweets from respawn saying that they are looking into the server drops / problems, feels like it's every week.

Second worry is how titanfall servers right now feel like budget servers compared to back at launch, back at release everything was super smooth and low ping 99% of the time but now only months after release my 37 ping feels like 150, servers keep lag spiking (might be me but everything else is smooth) and I even had a server crash close the game on me yesterday night.

Please keep on top of your halo servers!

Had they done that I would have melted. That is still one of the greatest E3 moments for myself. I don't even need a graphics update, make it playable even if it's glitchy and I'd love it.
Indeed.

S'alright though, after watching it again it was a little too heavily scripted in retrospect and some parts were salvaged/redirected to other sections of the game well enough.

Good to hear.

Will Master Chief Collection be at RTX?

Yes. In japan the releases are almost always bundling everything into one pre order thing instead of fragmented. Thats probably cause they know they cant get away with 5 different retailer pre order exclusives in japan since less popular and less selling over there. I think the whole practice is stupid. People sold games just fine before incentive forcing sales -_- now it seems its here to stay.

thats really depressing when the dev's are the ones who are suppose to be "for the gamer" -.-!

If this is a massive hit with fans, and everything works great, should Dan get a lot of the praise? I get the feeling he's really been a driving force behind all of this.

While this is bad I think the worst offender is Lost Planet Colonies. If you didn't preorder you lost access to like 3 maps. One of which was an awesome looking 8 bit one that no one played because of the locking out preorder BS

Preorder DLC needs to die a terrible death.

Eager to see how Halo 3 plays on dedicated servers.

Oh, matchmaking suggestion: for Halo 3, please remove all Spartan Laser respawns, if you could. =)

Hey 343 - if I choose to play only H2 maps on Live, I hope the 6 new ones aren't sprinkled in. You know everyone is going to vote for those over and over and it won't be fun for dudes looking to relive 2004.

Or you could give them a try, it isn't Halo 4.
Yeah, I'll probably get them shoved down my throat as I try to queue up for something totally unrelated like Halo 1 team slayer, if the guys running matchmaking are still the same old crazy bastards I remember.

I don't think you'll have to worry about that; the remastered maps are going to have their own special playlist, I believe.

Hopefully it also helps with SpOps, Iliked the mode for what it was but the lag killed it for me.

Am loving it.

Halo Anniversary had some serious issues at time with online co-op. Not sure whether it was purely framerate related hitches, netcode, a degraded connection, or mixtures of all of the above, but it wasn't always smooth, and sometimes it was pretty damn bad.

Really hoping the dedicated servers and tweaks could make that a better experience, especially for those jumping into Halo co-op for the first time.
