Only 7 pages in this thread while Revelations 2 thread is bursting. Hurts my heart...

If this game turns out to be amazing Bethesda can positively be called out for the worst marketing of a game ever.

That's alright! There'll be some latecomers, but as long as this turns out as wonderful as we hope, let them find their way over!

Mikami. October. What could be a better combination?! I can't freakin' waiiiiit!

Probably old news, but at least on PS4 you get 10% for pre ordering the digital version of the game. It is the same deal they had going on for Wolfinstien: the New Order, so if it works like that one did it will be up until launch day. I am going to wait a little bit longer to see if we get that spend 50 get 10 back deal again on PSN like we did the last two years.

So...how about that The Evil Within? Nothing's been said about the weapons that Juli will have in her DLC campaign, but that should be interesting.

They haven't said anything about the DLC campaign yet, it's probably a ways out.

Guys , what is the latest impression on PS4 version ? Last I heard the frame rates wasn't convincing .

Dusk said the Xbox One version's frame rate was noticeably better than the PS4's so it's likely further along in development. The devs are currently in crunch mode optimizing the game for all 5 platforms.

I wouldn't sweat it.

Oh well , PC version it is then . Thanks , regardless of platform , the game is day one for me .

Dusk wasn't playing a finished version of the game, if you want the PS4 version wait until closer to launch to make your decision.

I'm buying the PC version too but we've gotten zero information about it, we don't even know if it runs 60fps.

Damn, i'm really hyping this game, but i really dont know what platform i want to play it on.
My pc is still good, but it's been starting to show that it might be time to upgrade it soon. I bought it for around 6500KR and it could max most games last year, that is however not the same now. Since this game is pretty linear an stuff i'm hoping i'll be able to play it pretty good there but if the specs are nuts i'll just get the PS4 version, the problem HERE is that i dont have headphones for PS4, unless i unplugg my PC headset, which in the long run is going to be a damn headache.

Halp me gaf :c

I'll answer as fast as i can, just gotta scrape together what info i can find. (it was my friend who pretty much built it for me and recommended what card and stuff to use, i know absolutely nothing about computers)

GPU / CPU / RAM

I just realized this title is to Resident Evil as The Last Story was to Final Fantasy

A resident lives in a residence lol.
Evil Resides (lives within) (something or someone)
The Evil (is living inside) Within

In both cases, the evil is actively living in an object. They both take place in mansions and both debuted on PlayStation. The Evil Within could be to Resident Evil as Bayonetta was to DMC.

I.E. The pinnacle of survival horror. Extreme survival horror. New gameplay mechanics and scenarios that will most likely be copycatted by less talented developers.

So far, all I remember reading has been that it would address unsolved mysteries from the main story. But no, nothing about how they would go about doing that.

I have a soft spot for Mikami game plots. I know they aren't objectively great, but I find them interesting, the cinematography to be well done, and the story to be well implemented, not taking up too much time with cutscenes and the narrative expanded and maybe even more focused in environment details and files. He also creates hammy but likable characters.

So while the actual plot usually isn't anything spectacular, I find the execution to be good, and enjoy unraveling the individual elements of it, as the elements are usually more interesting than the whole. They have enjoyable B-plots that might not win any awards, but compliment the games nicely.

Cannot wait for this, more than any other game this year (well, except for FIFA 15 I suppose).

Is it true that the game is in 2.35:1 ratio?

Looks like a third rate Last Of Us , I'd say second rate but honor belongs to the grossly overrated resident evil 4. Mikami has only made one good game and that is vanquish. God Hand was average but nothing more due to it's shit camera controls. Dude is literally the Ridely Scott of the video game industry, made some interesting stuff so everybody excuses his crap and keep giving his washed up ass chances he doesn't deserve. Guy has interesting ideas but doesn't know how to execute on them. Naughty Dog and Epic took his poorly executed ideas from res 4 and showed him how much better they are with games like last of us and gears of war. I hope this game flops and end his career. Of course jpn fanboys and weebos will lap it up though because well it's made by a jpn guy even though it looks generic as fuck. It's funny how the same people who criticize The Last of Us for it's story focus and interesting shooting mechanics are very excited about a game with shooting mechanics that are essentially from his 10 yr old game but now you have more movement.
Hopefully critics will tear this piece of shit up like it rightfully deserves.

Your banned now I see so no idea if you'll read this or not, but I would have given your post some actually merit had you waited to say this after the game was release and you played it. Then I see you talking about "hoping" the game flops, and wanting it to end his career and it's no wonder your banned. Maybe it's a perma ban, or just a few months, but either way. Guess we won't be hearing back from you. Remember, Oct 14th good sir!

Bethesda have been doing pretty well. The game has been at almost every major trade show, they've held separate events both in the Americas and internationally, and they recently just announced that they'll be redoing certain parts of a theme park to promote the game.

Guys, don't get upset if this game doesn't sell as well as a Resident Evil game. You are comparing a new IP of smaller grandeur to one of the most established and well-funded Japanese series. Bitterness does no one any good. I don't think the marketing has been all that bad at all, it is just very difficult to establish new IP unless you throw Destiny levels of money at it. If the game flounders, it is probably more the result of its environment (the fall season).

It can be easily appreciated in the context of a game, as tool to create an interactive setting/atmosphere, the flavor of escapism. The whole "game stories just suck!" sentiment is just very lazy, you don't have to look at what is being done if you think like that.

I don't think anybody expects this game to outsell Resident Evil.

I know that they have made a powerful marketing push for this game all over the USA and UK.

It is a new IP and for people who do not care about the RE pedigree, this might be enough.

How much did RE6 sell anyway? I can't imagine it being a hugely successful product.

Was at about 5.2 million units this time last year.

I don't think this game is going to sell quite as badly as people think. I'm noticing a real positive buzz going on, both online and IRL, word is spreading. Even if it doesn't kill it day one it might have long-term legs caused by its clear cult appeal. Also it doesn't have much horror competition in the Halloween season other than Alien.

Did you play Wolfenstein: The New Order? If you can run that you'll be able to play this. Even Rage would be a good indicator as id Tech 5 is rather limited in the tech department -- there's not much difference between Rage and Wolf14 in the visuals department aside from the latter having better textures.

If I remember right that's about how it went down with Dead Space 1. Didn't burn up the charts day 1 but ended up being a big success eventually.

Yea, if it delivers on the scares then it could have legs in the way something like Amnesia did (heavily popularized by YT playthroughs).

I'm confident that this game will do well.

It'd be really satisfying to see it light up the charts though.

The most important thing is to show support for these kinds of games, not survival horror in general, but well designed mechanics and levels that doesn't compromise too much for streamlining.

Who knows, we might be looking at the next Souls series success story.

I really want to play it, but I don't think my notebook will run it.
But I can't pre-order it for PS4 because their games have a distribution problem right now at Brazil, which will take 2 to 3 weeks after the release for it to get here.

But I must say that slasherjpc's video picked up my interest in the game, and now this thread boosted my hype for it.

Expire time on the code is very close, if you want to use the 25% off code, know it expires in less than 24 hours.

I am really hoping this turns out to be an awesome game. Going to grab this over Borderlands. Hopefully the trophy list is stacked as well!

I hope the story is actually really good.

And I wish they'd picked better actors for Sebastian and Julie. I was not impressed based on that making of video, but Jackie Earl Haley sounded great.

I can say Sebastian sounds much better in game than in the VA video, where he didn't even sound like Senastian.

I've been on GAF over a year now and this is easily in the top 3 worst posts I have ever seen... It might even be the worst. And the rest of his posts aren't much better.

Awful opinions.

I wish I had half as much fun with TLoU as Resident Evil 4.

Fun was definitely something RE4 had in spades, which I felt TLOU really lacked.
