All the announcers have their great moments.

I really love Melee's though, dude sounds insane on some lines.

"ALL STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!"
"MELEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
"MARIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Alright so I'm losing a lot if someone uses Bowser. They'll usually do the side special and flip me off the stage. Is there anyway to reverse it or defend against going off the stage?

Okay, so I was not really having trouble with the level 9 CPUs...

... Then I started playing a Mario mirror. AI Mario is legit. On top of the perfect dodges and shields he also perfectly times his cape adding another layer of annoyance. Plus Mario is just a damn good fighter in this game. Definitely seems a notch or two above the other four in the demo.

Just played some cool Lucina dittos with a guy called Remen who may or may not be the proffesional Melee player. Either way, went 2-3 in the end and had a blast doing it.

Don't get hit
Alternatively, try and stay as far away from Bowser as possible.

German announcer sounds ok, seems to be the same one they used in Brawl. It's not as good as Melee, but i give him credit for trying, some of the character names in that game are just plain weird for exciting shouting :D

Yep. Once you go level 9 Mario you can't go back. He's the only one I fight at this point.

He definitely feels like a pretty strong character. AI Pikachu is alright too. CPU Link and Mega Man felt kinda free. MM especially, since he keeps doing side b into the ledge for no reason instead of recovering. Villager kinda in the middle. At first I kept get hit with Fsmashes he would sneak in here and there, while I was busy trying to go crazy on/around his shield.

Mario's the only one I really like to play though. Short hop double uair, utiltx5, dtilt->Fsmash, etc all too fun. I see myself enjoying Villager too though. I want to like Link, but unfortunately he still feels like Link in all the Smash games does. So not very good to me.

Seriously, an actual intro video would've been nice. I love Smash but so far the 3DS version looks like it's missing polish to some degree.

so how many of you guys SD all the time because c-stick jumping failed you once again?
I'm pretty much used to the controls.

And while I'm not at all a fan of tap jumping (even in other fighters, I wish it wasn't a thing any more), it's been in these games so long that I don't care any more. I just try to be more careful when doing uairs/utilts and it rarely gets in the way.

I still can't get over how well this game controls on the 3ds. It's amazing. Mega man is quite fun and I'm getting more and more used to him. He's such a different fighter. Can't wait to test him out online. And my boy mario is so good.

I do wish there were more 1 vs 1 footage if pit and greninja.

Smash doesn't offer any voice language options, does it?

Street Fighter IV did that well, allowing you to select which voice track you wanted for each character.

I've never really cared about this until recently, because a lot of the English VAs (Fox, for certain) are kind of... off. And weird.

Would be a nice addition. :)

I loved that option and I just wish more game allowed you to do that.

Agreed, I am just not feeling the announcer voice in Smash Bros 4.

Zoning isn't just limited to frail projectile users.

Zoners are proficient at keeping a distance and pressuring on your opponent from afar. You can zone with long range normals, for instance.

Olimar is a textbook zoner. He creates a "wall" with his long ranged normals (aerials mostly) and keeps his opponent at bay. Olimar is a nightmare for characters that have trouble approaching because he doesn't have to commit to doing anything risky.

I don't think smash has any dedicated grapplers. Grapplers usually have abysmal movement options (at least in comparison to the rest of the cast), and their entire gameplan is predicated on their high damage command throws. I also don't think Speed is a fighting style, it's more of a sub-aspect of a particular style (Speedy zoners, speedy rushdown, etc)
Link would be considered a zoner than, correct? Three projectiles, a distant grab and long range normals. Can "glass" characters be considers zoners (like Phoenix from MvC3)?

While Bowser isn't based around grappling, he has an additional grabbing attack, a weak recovery and fits the heavy damage, slow type. He's probably the closest there is.

You might be right about speed. Smash Bros. is not a traditional fighter, so the types don't fit perfectly. Based on my years of smash I would say speed, damage, weight, recovery, projectiles and reach are the most apparent character attributes.

Not loving the inhuman reaction speed on level 9 CPU's.

Their ability to grab items before I even see them falling from the top of the screen is insanely annoying. They're not playing like robotic humans ala Melee or Brawl, they're fucking omnipotent. Better at guarding then I'll ever be, too.

They're still beatable, they just have annoying psychic tendencies.

So i tried learning zelda and I suck at her. Any good vids to watch? Is it just all about good teleportation?
Check the archives for ClashTournaments. Nairo was playing as her last night, though I don't really remember what tactics he was using.

On the demo, the most troublesome AI at lvl.9 is Pikachu. Just legit annoying and good. Spamming too much of his projectiles and his thunderbolt is almost uninterruptible.

You can turn off tap to jump in the full version, so you don't have to get used to it.

To answer the question you quoted, Yes, I have SD'd due to tap jumping. I'm used to using my second jump after the up B to bait the AI. Needless to say it's frustrating to realize that I accidentally already used it.

Tap jump really prevents me from doing utilts and uairs as much as I'd like to. I really, really wish they had included control customization in the demo, even if it was the only options they offered in the entire game.

It's the same dude from Brawl, isn't it? I mean, he sounds pretty much the same. Just new voice clips. Kinda makes me wish the development team put a little more effort into making the game sound different from Brawl. Not digging the recycled victory themes and menu sound effects. :s

The thing with turning tap jump off, then it becomes a lot harder to do stuff like up smash or up B out of shield (well, unless that's changed for 4). Even if I never/rarely do those, I still hate knowing that the other person has access to more stuff than me. I also don't want to get used to a custom control scheme, because I don't want to have to set it each time I go to a different system to play. Though I guess the latter isn't really an issue with the 3DS version.

When doing uairs in the demo, just make sure you only push up halfway. That's usually enough for me not to jump, but still do the right move. With utilt, I'm usually doing a throw or an aerial right before it, so I just hold Up before I finish that.

So I've spent like 10 hours on the demo now D: to be fair, at least 5 of those were on multiplayer mode with my gf and/or my brother, so it's not been all AI-battling, but wow. I think I have like 8000+ coins collected too.

I really like Pikachu and Villager. Villager's tree mindgames are insanely fun, something that one can't really appreciate playing against the AI (my brother now hates me), and Pikachu... I don't think I've ever played him for long except maybe in SSB 64, but I really enjoy some of his moves, specially those that do multiple hits like his back-air and down smash, and he's really quick.

Question, if they ever would put a FF character in the game, wouldn't Terra be a good choice considering she was in the last mainline FF on a Nintendo console before it moved over to the Playstation. Think about it, she could be like Robin and the higher her percentage is, the longer her ultima sword attack should be. Also, final smash should be her esper form.

That'd be awesome.

Speaking of this, didn't somebody say the bonuses after a fight are back? Because I didn't see them in the demo, and I didn't see them in streams of Classic Mode. I kind of expect at this point that the announcement of their return was premature.

They're in. You need to scroll down during the victory screen to see them. You probably didn't notice them because every just spams a and skips through the victory screen as quick as possible.

So looking forward to playing against actual humans because of this. So much potential with that tree, and I've already found a few interesting ways to use it against the CPUs.

How much are coins worth in the game? I've heard that people are earning thousands from the demo, but only 500 carry over. Is 500 a lot - can it buy you a lot of stuff?

Got the same problem myself. Played him 6 times today and 5 went to sudden death. Won three lost 2. The other time I won was outright because he accidentally did his recovery move of the stage. Everybody else I can beat in normal time more often than not.

Though overall the demo is fun and I think I am playing at a higher level than in previous games (which was abysmally low.)
