Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Hey guys how about this review that already conforms to the opinion I decided for myself long before anyone outside of the developer played the game:

"It is like a bag of farts: exactly what you expect."

I am off to a pretty rough start as the game bugged out when I started the game for the first time and tried to adjust the resolution, couldn't figure out at first that E was the key to move the dialog forward and this multimonitor issue: http://steamcommunity.com/app/321870/discussions/0/61618974279743585 but so far it's pretty great (first 20 minutes). Like 2D Silent Hill with the items, sounds and overall look.

I had the same E issue, so I understand. It's in the controls, but I missed it.

But keep at it, the first 20 minutes are alright, but it gets a LOT better.

Never forget.

From what I've read, Imagine Party Babyz is one of the best casual mini-game collections on Wii. That's quite a feat, considering how saturated the genre was on the platform.

Just because you're not the target audience doesn't automatically make the game s**t.

It's long, it's hard, it's Alien Isolation. I just know I'm gonna end up loving this game, especially if I can overlook the jank in games like Enemy Zero and Overblood.

Why else do you think he's upside down?

That's not a leg.

I never said a modified UE3 would equal UE4. But you cannot easily port to UE4 a game running on an heavily modified UE3. It would be time and money consuming, and for what results? And maybe the modifications you've made to the UE3 make it more suitable for the game you want to make, when Epic only gives you some generic tools.

Also, reading the blog post from Xing devs, what you seem to describe as an easy process seems to be quite painful (I quote: "Almost nothing transfers over...the landscape sort of can, but you have to re-size it and repaint it. To be honest at one point, staring at a blank map again with incorrect lighting, no painting and only 5 meshes in my arsenal, I wanted to cry").

On a project the size of Batman or such AAA games, that could be a disaster. Would it really be worth it? IMO, no. But if you want an example of a game that constantly switched engines or versions to "get better", look at Daikatana...

I would also like to think that buying a $600 GPU is a social act that feeds graphics programmers and artists' families, but I'll stick to my crappy laptop to run Spelunky and 3D games on whatever settings allow me to play at 60fps.

Of course graphics can have an impact on the gameplay. But I really doubt a move from UE3 to UE4 will.

That is why they should start using UE4 from scratch, it is about time .

Pssh! Who needs new games when I've got Ryse, FFXIII and Sleepy Dawgs Deffo Ed to get tucked into next week. I already know what I'm getting into with all of them

According to rumors AMD has problem in their system and they haven't been able to send Star Citizen keys despite having them for days now.

Wouldn't be surprised if they are sitting on Alien keys too.

You've got to be kidding me. I have a buyer lined up for my key

The EaaS initiative launched this spring (that was like an official launch), but devs like Zombie Studios (Daylight) had access to it before that. Was probably a case of connections and stuff like that.

Yep Zombies studios had a special dinosauric version of UE4 called dev version which doesn't have most of the feature UE4.5 has now.

Exactly!

And thanks for the dailies. The new Steam store page is not so great to see dailies...

Yup. It's slow as molasses to update, badly placed and it even lies.
Specials box says it's 7.5€ at 50% off (so only counting Child of Light), but the whole pack is 60% off and 20€

I'd get it if they added more karaoke songs. I love that shit.

Someone posted earlier in this thread what the actually changes are. It's more to do with tweaking difficult of certain sections and tightening some bits up by the sounds of it. There was also mention of some new effects work I belive but sadly didn't sound like any additional or new content out of what is already available on the current PC version. Of course I'm a raving Sleepy Dawgs obsessive so I was always going to snag it, just for the artbook and new achievement set alone!

Also folks who have got Alien Isolation on the way, GameGPU have got some benches up already.

Bear in mind that all the GPU tests are on a 8 core (with HyperThreading) CPU which during the CPU rundown performs a hell of a lot better than everything else at the average numbers so you should really look to the lowest reported framerate to get an idea.

Haha fuck you Ubisoft. Front page shows 7,49€ for the pack and when I click on it it's 20€

Not the first time this happened with bundles.

But I've been waiting for a COoL discount so I'm quite pleased. Not so pleased with the DLC that isn't reduced and costs more than double.

Child of Light standalone is 50% off (as are the other two games in that pack), lowest it's been on Steam. It won't get played for a while so I'm debating on whether to pick it up now or just wait for the Winter sale.

Kinda sorta want Child of Light and Valiant Hearts.
Not at this price, though, and definitely not with Trials included

(You only have yourself to blame with your uplay outages, Ubi =p)

Ups, wasn't aware that there are this many reviews already out there. So what is wrong with IGN o_O Why are they scoring this game so low compared to the other reviews?

I'll post a relevant quote from Gamesradar on Alien Isolation.

Is Alien: Isolation for everyone? Perhaps not. If you demand reassurance, telegraphed threats, predictable solutions, and an inherent, hand-holding sense of ‘fairness’, you might find the experience too much to handle.

The quote would describe a type of player that is directly opposing both IGN's core demographic and Ryan Mcaffery, the person who wrote that review.

In my opinion, IGN is never a good place to go for reviews on games. I find their outlooks rarely align with my own and they tend to assign scores based on the size of the marketing budget.

I know, I know, no new things. In that case, can you actually escape from the police now without resorting to ramming them off the road? Those dirty pigs are really good at staying right on top of me.

Happy Friday!
